If he plays well on a consistent basis, then his trade value will go up. I want the best for him, but I’m skeptical because of his poor performance in this outgoing season.

Great contract. Glad to have Tari locked up at a reasonable price. Stone is a good contract lawyer.

Doesn't seem too happy. Passed up 100M for this but then again we don't know how much that was guaranteed so this deal could be better for him in the long run considering his health/availability.

    Meh.

The market for Eason was REALLY weak. His agent will claim he wanted to be back etc…. But after the injury issues, his inability to play in an organized and disciplined defense and concerns over whether he is really a starter… his market just wasn’t super strong. Rockets could have possibly strong armed him but it would have caused issues for sure. For Eason, I’m sure he isn’t happy about the deal but considering the market - this deal is fair for him. He should be happy.

From Rockets perspective - they don’t want to lose an asset for nothing, Eason is an imposing defensive player even if he isn’t a system guy. He is long and athletic and causes havoc defensively. Offensively he isn’t a zero, he gets hustle points and at times hits the 3 and it’s possible he becomes more consistent in coming years. Eason at 38-40% from 3 is a problem for opposing teams. Reminds me a lot of James Posey. The money isn’t a “steal” for the Rockets considering the market, but it is a fair deal.

Should be good for both sides. Glad that Eason has secured a financial future for him and his family and glad the Rockets didn’t lose Eason forever.

The money and the years are fine. But can we stop with the Tari playing starter minutes stuff now? He is paid and I would assume even the biggest "why is Dillon Brooks still on the team because we should start Tari" fans can finally acknowledge that he is not someone you play 35mpg.

    16/yr is fine.

    But, 5 years...ouch.

Seems pretty fair, but I'd have preferred 3 years with the last one a team option, even if the per-year amount was a tad higher.

That 2-month-long drought from Hell last season scared me. That was one of the worst droughts I've ever seen. Things happen, but you have to find a way to snap out of it within 2-3 weeks. He was dragging the entire team down with him for a while there.

    This.

With the flurry of deals, Eason did not have a lot of suitors willing to make him the type of financial offer me wanted. Very possible he would have had to settle for 60 million without Houston.

I kinda wish the Rockets went down the strong arm route a bit more. Tari did it to himself. He had a non-existent market and they probably could've squeezed him for a smaller/shorter contract. I don't like his attitude and his reaction to the deal is off-putting. They didn't have to give him that player option. Overall I'm okay with this deal but he should've had to pay a higher price for incorrectly betting on himself and the market. 12M would've made me happy.
