Yeah. Better hope he's not like a middle aged SHawn Kemp. I'll take Yao long term. Amare is really good though. They would be great together.

Amare is better...and he's going to be pretty great for a long time.

we should only hope that Yao can continue to be compared to him for years to come.

If only we would have offer our #15 pick that yr plus a player to the Suns for their #9 pick.

I remember the Rockets was pretty high on him also during draft time.

I will say this.... Amare's game has been REALLY augmented by the addition of Steve Nash. Nash is giving Amare so many quality shots on dribble penetration and on fast breaks. No doubt that Amare has improved his overall game, but the addition of Nash has been enormous!

You have to wonder if we had a Nash on our team what kind of shots he would be able to create for Yao in dribble penetration.

I doubt Amare would look NEARLY as good in a slow down half court game for 48 minutes versus the Suns fast break full court game.

    Deuce,

True about Nash, but the bottom line is, if you were GM and you could choose one of them, would you take Yao or Amare?

At this point, Amare is whom I would choose.

I think right now the "passion" Amare brings each night puts him over the edge. The "passion" is what is holding Yao back. The great ones always have the "passion" every night. A player either has it, or doesnt.

Amare right now is the fastest and strongest power foward in the league. A young Dream and Kemp are the only people I can think of that had this combination.

If given the option now, I'd still pick Yao...Hell, if we had a PG like Nash, Yao's numbers would be insane...Plus, we have JVG, which isn't exactly working for us...

    Yao, hands down..

Last night Scottie Pippen was the third announcer beside that Redd guy and his partener, after Luol Deng made a pull up jumper to clinch the game Scottie Pippen said that Deng has some big balls. That was the funniest thing I've ever heard an announcer say, I'll be checking in to Bulls game from now on just to see if he's announcing.

You need something to bring out your passion, either for a game or a woman:) If you are not attracted to a woman, you do NOT have passion for her, but you can be very passionate about another person. Don't get too caught up with that "born with it" thing. Amare is having great fun there to play with those guys and that system. I can't say the same thing about Yao. We all know he's questioning the way JVG is utilizing him.

Yes, Amare is playing way better than Yao right now. But if I got the chance to pick now, I would still go for Yao without any hesitation. You get a fast and strong PF in the pool every year, but when did you have a 7'6 guy who can shoot and pass last time in the draft? That's all the reason I need.

    Amare >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Yao

Most in this forum are hypocrites. With or without nash, amare would get his points and rebounds becoz he has the talent and the heart to be one of the premiere pf's in the game. Yao, being the second best center is given in a silver platter just becoz there's no other center aside from shaq that can average at least 17 and 8. But no mistake about it, in any given night the likes of brad miller, ilgauskas, okur, dampier, bosh, and soon okafor would outplay yao because he is just a sissy and lazy. yao sucks, the rockets suck. Go magic, go steve.

don't compare amare and dream. Dream could do things no one else could and will never be able to. Dream was the focal point and he was like a pg for a Center. He created by himself. Yes both amare and dream had physical talents, but dream was talented where Amares relies on dunks and layups. Dream had shot, ball handling and tremendous back to the post game. Amare benefits from having the best passing and pushing pg in the western conference. Steve Nash makes him look good.

Yao is not much better but he is the focal pt of a halfcourt offense. Its comparing apples and oranges.

Young Dream was closer to Amare than the 92-97 Dream.

Dream at Amare's age had even less polish than Amare. I didn't say Amare will be as good Dream. I just said that I can only think of 3 players with that much speed and power. Dream, Kemp, and Amare.
