I had no problem with FVV and his original contract. We had to spend the money and the kids needed some veteran leadership. He has just outlived his usefulness as a Rocket and is holding our youth back, because of Ime’s infatuation with him. He is not a good player anymore.
Bad overall sequencing, but he is now a $25 million expiring contract. Let’s hope that insurance could cover half of that and maybe we can deal him somewhere where that can help us get it done. if we commit to Amen/Reed in the back court then that is great from a starting perspective. It gets some experience. or, if we go to Irving, give it one more year for Shepherd to get experience.
What you mean is this: we’ll be a better team once we stop being unlucky. As fans, we’re bad at processing simple bad luck (here, the FVV injury) that has a long tail. We want to maintain the illusion of control and find someone to blame (Stone, Ime). It’s human nature. That doesn’t mean it’s right.
Rolling with old players and injury prone players is more predictive than just bad luck. It may be the absence of good luck. Counting on good luck is not a very reliable way to build a life or a business.
