So these leaks have to be coming from Fred. He talked on his pod. Now if there’s more leaking it’s got to be coming from his people. 1). It’s not to the rockets advantage to claim “his knee is done” or that it “exploded”.
2). The rockets have a small front office that doesn’t usually leak.

So why would Fred try to tank his value and make trading him harder? I can only assume he doesn’t want to move. But this all seems really weird. Clearly there’s some friction as he and the org appear to be working at cross purposes. He’s been paid handsomely and treated well here so I don’t get it.

 

Does this guy actually know anything, or is he just a fan?

 

Well, he is just an expiring then, and it makes some of these moves understandable, maybe they can use his contract to get someone at the trade deadline.

Disagreement over the opt-out and extend?

Maybe Fred, coming fresh off of multiple well overpaid contracts, potentially has an overinflated ego, perhaps saw how dis-functional the offense was and expected another sizeable offer due to how important he is for the team, believing he has significant leverage as "the man who fixes all of this".

And then perhaps the Rockets, fresh off of giving him multiple well overpaid contracts, fresh off of paying him 25 million to rehab, focused on him being 32 with a significant injury, believed they were due a significant discount to help lower our tax bill after all the good will they have shown him.

And somewhere in the middle of that, people took the disagreement personally?

Wait just a minute! Youre telling me wasted all of last season because we just couldnt win without fred vanvleet…. But they knew this whole time he was cooked anyway?

Hold on now yall. Somethings not adding up! As far as im concerned I just know our long awaited superstar is about to come back to drop 20 and 10 on the season

 

Fred was painting the picture that he was coming back for the playoffs last season, now he's done? I never expected much from Fred this year to begin with.
