Kawhi holds a sentimental value for Toronto & is signing an extension there.
Grumpy KD has opposite value as far as fans approval is concerned. He's a merc by this point

I highly doubt the Rockets could get a likely lottery pick before the lottery for KD.

Hahaha. Nobody, I mean nobody, is giving that many picks for KD. The Kawhi trade was an aberration born out of nostalgia and 2 of those picks were swaps. If we can get a pick without taking back an albatross contract, we should jump all over it. I’ve floated this several times, but Charlotte thinks they are ready to compete. KD into their trade exception for as many picks as they will give you (probably 1). This would give us tremendous flexibility down the line. I’m surprised Charlotte’s not being mentioned in the Brown sweepstakes.

I'd be pretty ecstatic for 2 FRP for KD. A good young player, filler, and a FRP would be great, too.

It only happens if KD wants to go and if people will offer a good enough package. I think the chance of both is slim but I am holding onto hop.

There is no way we are trading KD now that we have picked up all these OLD players to make him happy.

At 37 he’s not even going to get us one first round pick. Maybe 4 seconds.

The Rockets can get more for KD than most expect -- there has been a lot of strong interest in him from a group of like 5-6 teams that want to add a high level player to their roster. All of these teams are competing for guys like Giannis, Brown, LeBron etc. but there are teams that know they will not get those guys and still want to add. The Detroit Pistons are looking at several guys that they want badly and one of those is KD -- they would give up future picks for KD.

Yea, I said this yesterday and I still think it.... In seeing all this activity around the league, somebody will pay. The contract isn't even terrible.

The guy played great last year. He just looked like **** when we forced him into a role that is not is and he isn't as used to doing. Not sure where he would rate as far as current NBA players but if we are just judging on their impact on the 26/27 season, he is pretty dang high on the list.

Let's just trade him for a bunch of picks and be done with it.

I’ll beat this drum until it’s no longer available. Trade KD into charlotte’s trade exception. No players coming back and even 1 frp or several seconds would be worth it for the cap space and to get rid of him before he completely wrecks the team. He is a cancer and a minus on everything but shooting. His shooting is so good, that if we would consent to play off-ball he would be worth his contract, but he is not and Ime is too stupid to force it.

Yeah I thought Detroit was our best opportunity. I suspect we will have to wait for the trade deadline. If KD gets hurt next season the org shouldn't be able to escape responsibility for the decision not to move him now.

The Rockets are $61.4m over the cap. There is no cap space to be gained by trading him for no returning salary and no TPE to be gained because Charlotte would have taken him into it's own TPE - No TPE generated for the Rockets because of that.

You just threw away not only KD's $43.9m in salary but up to $54.8m in matching ability.

Apparently less than Paul George and two firsts or Jaylen Brown would be a Rocket right now.

Rockets didn't want Jaylen or he'd be a Rocket.

I'm confused what their plan is but I'm happy Sengun wasn't traded because that's who Boston wanted.

I get that, but to me, whether you want him or not, Jaylen Brown for KD and two firsts is value too good to pass up.

his value is Jaylen Brown, someone who’s better than him and almost a decade younger

Stone was too busy browsing Uber Eats with his side chick to take advantage

First off, Charlotte has not yet completed the LaMelo Ball trade. They might be able to take in KD in that trade, rather than first generating a TPE that is not quite large enough to absorb KD's salary.

Second, no offense intended, but I don't think you understand how TPEs work. A TPE is essentially a trade "hole". If the Rockets send out KD without taking back salary, it will create a TPE in the amount of KD's salary. Whether or not the other team has its own TPE is irrelevant.

Thanks for the info. I think it would be a brilliant move on our part, but I want KD and Fvv off our team very badly. Others do not.

You’re not the only one. There are many other posters who want the same thing. It’s highly unlikely that this will happen though.
