Kessler is a good fit but the Lakers gave up way too much. I am glad they made this trade because it locks them into this roster for a long time.

They have had a very busy day but how much better are they considering LeBron is gone?

Is Austin Reaves up to being the #2 option for an entire season and playoffs? We'll see.

 

People keep Stone is bad but lol. Ainge just straight up fleeced and destroyed Lakers with this SnT.

Thinking back to his Auburn days and draft; if he is worth this -> what is Jabari worth on the open market?

 

If Kessler gets this return, imagine what we can get for Sengun...

Note: Justin Zanik is technically the Jazz GM. Austin Ainge is President of Basketball Ops ( a level higher), like what Daryl was at Philly.

Danny Ainge is listed as 'ceo of Jazz' and alternate governor. So basically can vote on behalf of the real owner. While Danny is likely involved and advising, at some point media should start crediting the actual GMs and Prez doing the work and fleecing.

 

People say Kessler makes a Gobert-like impact. If that's true, then $32.5M ain't bad. He'd be hated online, but the Lakers would get their money's worth just like the Timberwolves. I haven't noticed that impact the few times I've seen him play, but maybe he does make that type of impact. I dunno.

 

I actually like Walker Kessler as a player and think he could live up to the contract if he's healthy and focused.

The problem was all the draft capital the Lakers gave up. I just don't understand the point of that. Maybe you overpay if you are getting the final piece to a championship roster but I don't see that with this Lakers team. The Lakers front office is almost operating as if LeBron was some big negative holding the roster back and removing him is going to make this team better than OKC/San Antonio.

I think this team will struggle far more than one should when they have pawned off all their remaining assets. I don't see them having homecourt at the start of the playoffs.

I agree with that take. Lakers have locked themselves in jail with a roster that is not a championship contender and they'll have to blow it up in 2-3 years.
