Oscar Cluff is like a younger Jock Landale, pretty much just a traditional C with size, heft and length. I guess our Capela replacement if he pans out.
The Rockets did pretty well for themselves in the UDFA market this year, getting both Quadir Copeland and Oscar Cluff. Those two guys were both ranked in the 50s or 60s by nearly every major draft expert. Also, from reading between the lines, I'm guessing the Rockets considered taking Copeland with the 55th pick but somehow figured out that he was going to go undrafted. Their agreement with Copeland came so quickly, they must have had that level of understanding of his situation during the late stages of the draft.
It appears he's more of a physical presence than Jock, a better rebounder, and can finish around the basket (Synergy tracking had him making 80.2 percent of his shots at the rim in half-court situations, the highest in the draft class). Good footwork in the post. Excellent screener. 9-foot standing reach and 255 lbs. Sorry, guys, he's not playing much above the rim or a 3-point threat.
