There is an unprotected 1st and 3 first round swaps. The Hornets are clearly betting Anthony Edwards isn't staying in Minnesota.

I am a little shocked they didn't get more though. Unprotected 1sts from mediocre franchises are super valuable, but no other true firsts? And the pick swap in 2029 is very interesting because it is already traded to Utah or Charlotte, unless it is a top 5 pick. So the pick swap only applies, if the pick is in the top 5.

Charlotte got everything the Wolves had to trade and cut $33M this season, $20M in each of the next 2 seasons.

I would not say Edwards isn't the only thing Charlotte is betting on. Ball is made of glass, Gobert is old and in decline. DiVincenzo is a free agent next year. With the money saving Charlotte got out of this, they should sign DiVincenzo with all their cap space even if they overpay by $10M a year next offseason. With only 6 rotation players and likely less tanking, I see Minnesota not having any injury tolerance. Without DiVincenzo, they would have 5 rotation guys.

If Ball is heathy and plays like he did last year, things should be great for Minnesota. If Ball has another 20-30 game season, I don't think Minnesota has the horses to manage an 82 game season. Though, they are built for the playoffs.

Just a risky trade by both sides, IMO.

Wait what? Lamelo is unserious lol. Doesnt play defense, inefficient and is always injured. And he is making the super max. His antics worked because Hornets were joke a but if you are seriously trying to compete he just gets in the way.

The Wolves Tim Conelly follows up a step forward with 3 steps back, just like with the Gobert trade and the Kat trade. Ant is gonna want out in. a few good thing we still have a war chest remaining.

How is that a good trade for Minessotta? They lost all their picks and gotta pay Lamelo the max.

FVV and Adams contribute to actual winning far more than freaking Lamelo dude thats why Hornets dumped him. You think Hornets gonna get rid of him for Naz Reid if he was actually good? Bruh who should know more about Lamelo Hornets who had him for years or the Wolves? Hornets just used him for ticket sales but dumped him when they got actual good players.

I dont even know why Wolves did this trade they just traded for Ayo Dosunmu I guess he's gone.

Right. His injury history alone shows he was a liability.

LaMelo's scoring inefficiency does not bother me too much. He makes scoring so much easier for his teammates that the team scoring efficiency should go up with him on the court by a lot.

Defense and injuries worry me about LaMelo. I think Minnesota, healthy, can handle the defense. To me, if LaMelo (or really any of their starters) goes down for an extended period, the Wolves will be hurting.

I genuinely think this makes wolves worse and has a chance to blow up in their face

He is just a bad player whether its the D, inefficiency or health. He is years away removed from his all star days in the East. He makes the super max. His injury history is full of red flags. Its telling Hornets unload him once someone wanted him no bidding war no nothing.

Lamelo doesn't try to play defense, at least Reed does. Besides Lamelo has been mostly injured his career and he jacks up an ungodly amount of 3s. I imagine him like Jason Williams, a fun player but not somebody that is a winning player in their young career. Williams eventually became a winning player once he scaled out the trickery out of his game, we will see if Ball will change his style with Ant being a more serious player and will not tolerate his clown show.

The Wolves have officially made their panic trade to try and appease Ant. Clock is now ticking.

    Lamelo games played by season 51, 75, 36, 22, 47, 72.

His best season was last year. I do not hold the skill of people voting for all-star teams against LaMelo. That seems silly to me.

The data on the MiG is inaccurate.

    This is true.

There was reporting that LaMelo was actively fielding calls for LaMelo. They got a time-sensitive offer that is interesting and took it. If you believe this is a slam dunk deal for Charlotte, there is no reason to risk a time-sensitive deal when reporting suggests they already did their due diligence.

At first glance, it seems like Minny didn't give up much.
But, when you consider LB's injury history, and the possibility of Ant eventually leaving...those swaps.
They will tell the tale on who got over.
I can appreciate the trade from both sides.
Minny's taking on a lot of risk though..
I'd rather be in Charlotte's shoes here.

    Called it!

This is going all-in on Kon as playmaker

Hornets made the right decision to cut bait on an injury-prone, inefficient, untrustworthy player.

T-Wolves with a Hail Mary pass that will fall incomplete and blow up in their face. Ant will demand out next summer.

If Melo stays healthy and matures, this would be a great trade for the T-Wolves, but it just won't happen.

Mad props! I like Kon. Bad start to the season got the Hornets into a must win 2 to make the playoffs. The Hornets offense was smooth the last half of the season.
