A sweep by the Astros would probably put the Tigers season to bed. Astros have 25 more games before the All-Star break. They probably need to go 15-10 at worst to justify taking a buyer’s posture at the deadline. Thats doable since they only play one really good team in that stretch: Tigers, Guardians, Blue Jays, Tigers, Twins, Rays, Nats, Rangers. Clock is ticking on putting together a season-saving win streak. Getting a look at Brown, Javier, and Diaz as they get back will answer a good number of questions. So will seeing how Smith, Altuve, and Matthews play. It’s a shame Blanco isn’t coming back until August. There’s a small chance Houston wins enough to buy at the deadline but really doesn’t have a clear glaring need.
Been busy with work, haven't followed as closely this season. Is the loss of Carlos Correa not a significant issue for this team? Im surprised to see the astros winning despite the injuries.
they're not winning as much as losing they have been 0.500 ever since that 8 games losing streak early in the season.
Told a week ago Crane doesn’t want to give up on the season yet. Brown will do whatever Crane wants without question. Brown and Espada also arguably have a vested interest in not giving up. Unless Crane tells Brown he is safe (which isn’t how he operates), then Brown likely wants to make the playoffs - same with Espada. Both would probably feel reasonably well about the future.
