Wemby said he wants to be the greatest player ever. He already has a tarnish to his legacy with a Finals loss, but lucky for him so does Kareem, bill russell and other greats. This will either make him come back even stronger and work even harder, or it may let us see his legacy will be of a generational talent and top player, but not one that can challenge for the all-time great title. I think his mentality is built to get madder and try harder and that's really scary for the league.

His post game quotes are what you would want to hear. Liked. He now has to turn that into action. Develop a low post move he can rely on ( this should be easy given his height. ) And then the harder part will be to become immovable on the post.

Wemby’s legacy is as a dirty player, following in the slimy footsteps of legendary Spurs dirtballs Danny Ferry and Bruce Bowen. I assume this offseason he’ll go back to the temple and learn more kung fu moves to better injure players. Look for Wemby’s version of the flying facekick next season.
Dumbest take ever. Wemby at 22 with no other all star teammate led a team of 20 years old to the finals. And it’s a blemish on his record? This should actually be a feather in his cap as to why he is the GOAT. What he did this year was amazing and I hate the damn spurs. Jordan literally got swept in the first round multiple times at this age but he’s the goat cuz he didn’t lose in the finals? I will never understand why Jordan fans think it’s better to lose in first round than the finals.
He needs to get stronger and put some muscle on his frame. Work on a low post game but he will never do it as he has these delusions that he is a point guard.
I mean the question is silly kind of because lets say something happens and he's forced to retire next season. Unless its due to some scandal, something criminal, his legacy would be "What if?" and people would assume he would have just achieved greatness. If he's forced to retire due to some horrible injury then it'll be more sympathetic. The other all time greats never won at this age too, so his legacy doesn't suffer right now. It'll suffer if he makes it to the finals again and then shrinks in clutch time again and again then yeah, but right now this is house money. No one expected him to be in the finals much less win one at this age. At the same time history tells us it is foolish to assume anything. He very well could win the next 7 championships if everything goes right or it could be he never gets back again until late in his career, who knows. I do think the NBA is still adjusting to him and I think the Knicks and this finals run did expose some weaknesses or faults that he has now. The twon main being due to just...physics. 1. You can tire him out. Teams need to be aggressive and make him play defense, don't let him just camp the paint. You have to make this man move his feet for entire game. 2. His man defense is actually nothing to be scared of. Too many players don't even try to drive past him because they feel like if they get the angle and lane to the paint he'd just block them from behind, which he might, but it's still worth it to try because one, you are making him play defense on the perimeter and two, you are taking him away from the paint and right now the Spurs don't really have any other bigs other than Kornet (which maybe they fix this problem next season) At the end of the day it's too early, right now though its save to assume he's going to be an MVP candidate for the majority of his career barring injury though and that he and Harper are going to be a force to be reckoned with.

IMO, Victor will never have a great low post game because his center of gravity is too high and he can't gain leverage. Also, physicality tires him out more than opponents, so shoving to get position deep in the paint every possession is a losing proposition. We'll see though. Maybe you're right.
It highlighted some character flaws. He did not want the ball at crucial times, made bad decisions with the ball, and choked at the free-throw line. If he is the type of player to choke in the clutch, then he will still be that even if he gets a go-to shot or gets stronger. He might also have anger issues, flagrant foul issues, and some iffy comments. show that he might think he's better than he actually is. He is young and might actually be aware of his problems since he did that monk thing. He has the NBA on his side, too. Too early to count him out.
This was so clearly illustrated when he was pushed aside by a shorter center and failed to secure a crucial defensive rebound, with his team down 3 and ~24s left in the game.
