Clutch!!! Where have you been all these years? Where is the love, my friend!!?? By the way, we can't win every game. And I know some call it egotistical what I am doing. And the taunting? Hardly. Its just that I hate when people don't give people a chance and judge them on a pair of bags under their eyes. I love it when stereotypes are busted wide open. And that is why I will continue to lead the Crow Eating Charge. Now, can you make this thread a sticky or what? I am a loyal desciple, don't you think?
I was very loyal to Rudy Tomjanovich and believed he had earned his right to decide for himself when it was time for him to go. However, I also believed that it was time for a change. The players just seemed out of control under Rudy's reign. That said, I also believed JVG was a great replacement and a coach capable of earning the respect of this team and getting them to show maximum effort, and damned if I don't feel alot better about a loss if I feel like our team showed maximum effort. I think he's doing that and he's really just getting started. Also, someone said JVG isn't as likeable a personality as Rudy. I'd point out that that is a matter of perspective. Personally, I love JVG's personality as a basketball coach. He's no nonsense. He says what he means and rarely holds his tongue on it. And I think "The two worst things to happen to basketball are god and golf." was one of the best quotes by a coach in the past ten years. But then, I'm an athiest. The plate of crow I deserve- All year when people have been saying we need to sign Mark Jackson I've said I didn't want him because he was over the hill and reportedly a locker room cancer in Utah last year. So far, I WAS VERY WRONG. And I hope to god I continue to be very wrong about that call. I am loving what he brings to the team. I also didn't expect Padgett to play as well for us as he has, but I didn't think it was a bad signing either and I certainly never spoke against it so I don't think I'm due crow there. I'm just feeling like I ought to be wrong about more....
This point hits the nail on the head with JVG. I have to think Francis's FG% decrease has alot to do with his discomfort with the offensive scheme (or the existance of an offensive scheme, since Rudy's seemed to be 'iso-the-guy-with-the-ball'). I also agree with the fact that most of the players have 'bought into' JVG philosophy, especially Cat. I can remember that over the past few years if Cat got a defensive rebound, he seemed to feel that entitled him to take the next shot down the court. No passing, no screens, just coast-to-coast scoring. Now, I'd like to see a lot more fastbreaks, but intelligent ones. Cat has definitely stopped this habit, stoping the break if the team's outnumbered. By the way, JuanValdez's original post was probably the best one I've read in about a year.
No. I'm here every day looking. NOPE...not gonna eat crow. Until the Rockets make it to the Finals and win...JVG still has something to prove to me.
I think it is ignorant to believe after tonight's game that all of a sudden Van Gundy is the coach that this team needs. THE JURY IS STILL WAY OUT ON VAN GUNDY. And I am not rooting for him to get fired. I would like to see him open up the offense, become more positive with the players, and actually be loyal to his players the way he claims he is. Tonight's game scheme was out of desparation. But if he goes back to his ranting ways and slowing down the offense, then I will lose all hope that he can be successful here with TMac and Yao. No eating crow. Let's just be realistic. Van Gundy is a major part of the problems with this team right along with the PF play and the PG play.
I doubt. But I think the players suck on the team. I do believe in the man. What I can't believe is that Yao and the rest of the softies get their shot thrown back in their face so much and by Dallas out of all teams!!!
This response is why ancient threads should not be brought up. This thread was originally started months ago. Almu's post had nothing to do with last night's game.
