Let's say all things are equal. Stroud's play is similar to last yr, same stats, same wins, everything.

And since the Texans are projected to win between 10 - 13 games, that will put them around 28 or lower, so how do they find a way to get a top QB?

Mind you, there are 5 QBs projected to go in the Top 10 to teams that NEED QBs; Arizona, Cleveland, Pitts, NY Jets, and Miami.

So, since you don't like Stroud and you're predicted to pick in the low 20's, what can you do to move into the Top 10, REALISTICALLY?

In addition, as you said, you would choose Baker Mayfield over Stroud, who is also looking for a $50M or more per yr contract. And keep in mind Baker is going to be 32-33 yrs old next yr

    So what do you do?

I forgot to add that he had another 1st time OC, as well. Not excuses, just facts

    I didn’t say I would choose Baker.
I said Baker is better than CJ, but that’s not really debatable at this point.

If CJ repeats what he did last year, you don’t sign him to a long term contract. Possibly franchise and buy another year.
You don’t tie this team down, that has multiple defensive players to resign, with a boat anchor like CJ-if he did what he did the last two years.

Yeah, that OC is the reason he sucked so bad in the playoffs.

What jumped out to me is that they have ****ing fantasy points and not fumbles/lost. TO are kinda important, would like to know the numbers.

So, basically you pay him $55M per for 2yrs until you find a resolution?

Like CJ and others said, the OC could have called for screen plays until he got into a rhythm. That's the OC job, when he see his QB struggling

But there will always be naysayers and detractors, because thats in their DNA

Screen plays? really, what if they didn't work? The Texans weren't good at running screen plays last yr.

Honestly I don’t have an answer.
The best possible outcome is for CJ to play line a top 10-15 guy at minimum.

If he doesn’t, we can not pay him what he’s going to be asking for.

They weren’t good at running the ball either. So an offense that couldn’t run the ball, bad at screens, bad at protecting the QB, missing its top 2 Receivers, and cannot make adjustments in the plays that were drawn up…but everything was CJ’s fault. Got it.

Let's see, the ol couldn't block, the receivers couldn't get open and the running backs weren't good.

Looks like to me that everybody sucked butt CJ

That still doesn't explain the Steelers game.

Steelers couldn't take advantage of the fumbles and 1 int. And Pats were a better team, playing in bad weather with 2 top WR targets out for Texans. It was going to take a major effort from the QB to put this one out. He failed. That is for sure, but that is life, it handed team a lemon and they couldn't make Lemonade, but sour results everywhere. In fact, you can say the QB (CJ) tried too hard and got burned into toast. He is paying the price right now, if he was anything better and they still lost, he likely would have new contract extension now. (What if CJ didn't throw 4 int, just say 1 or 2, and the game was competitive and they lost by a FG)......

Even if they would have lost by a FG.....There would still be Naysayers on here complaining about something. THATS WHAT THEY DO!

    AND

They have No Plan, other than to say CJ is not better than this player or that player.

Im not picking on anyone, just saying that QBs and PGs have the hardest jobs in sports. Why, because every time they touch the ball a player, a coach or a fan is judging you. Think about it.

I was listening to Peyton Manning talk either late last yr or early this yr. He didnt win his first playoff game until his 7th yr and he said, how impressed he was with CJ. He said and Im paraphrasing, CJ has been in the league for 3yrs and he has won three playoff games.

Some will say the playoff wins were a direct result of the defense but football is a TEAM GAME.

And to be honest, CJ has never had a consistent group around him. Be it OCs, WRs, RBs, or OL. During his three yrs, its been 2 OCs, too many to count OL, 3 different starting RBs, WRs in and out of the lineup; Tank and Nico both have missing major time, Diggs missed major time, Noah Brown missed time, and John Metchie missed time. And last yr in the NE Game, he played with two rookies!

Name me another QB who has faced as much adversity and still won in the Playoffs?

Devil's advocate here: Defense won all the games, CJ lost the rest. Just saying. But honestly, he did his part but he is not Brady or the rich guy with the Chiefs. I do like the fact the Defense looks to be BETTER than last year. And the OL looks to be too. And RB1 is healthy (not whole season no show). So sprinkle in a more focus, ready to roll CJ, and this could be a special season. 2nd year OC will help too. 2nd year for the 2 WR rookies will help.
