We are not that different from the Knicks

    Similarities
They are a good defensive team. Rockets too!
They don't have a really big defensive guy. A strong guy in Towns that can push 7-footers is enough. Sengun can be that too
Their offense is mostly iso and pick-and-roll. See the attempts of Brunson. Durant can do that, too
Hart can't shoot. Amen can't shoot either
They are not that young like OKC or Spurs, and some are acquired. We are that team as well but younger than them
I don't see how Mike Brown's coaching is different from Ime's.

    Difference
They have better shooters, though. Rockets will get there by getting someone, hopefully

    Conclusion
We can be a good team just like this Knicks.

We are watching an offensive juggernaut run riot through the playoffs and your first thought is the Rockets can do that too?

    Sure.

FVV is built similar to Brunson but his mindset is that of Antoine Walker and finishes like Tari Eason.

Ime is as fun as Mike Brown but
only in bed with the women of the Celtics.

oh yes chemistry is our problem too. the brunson, hart, bridges friendship is an underrated factor in their chemistry. Something that we dont have but it is something we can fix hopefully

brunson is 19 out of 56 in the finals, I won't call that efficient. KD can do that but he does not shoot that much i think.

I think it's important to use this post as another opportunity to trash Stone. The Knicks didn't draft a young core. They acquired their roster through smart trades, free agent signings, and finding undervalued players. They made the moves at the margins to build a championship roster with depth. Rockets could've made the same moves (e.g., target Finals MVP Karl Anthony Towns when the Timberwolves were looking to move on from him, signing guys like Landry Shamet, etc.). Stone sucks at building a roster. Until the GM changes, we will always be on the outside looking in.

For this current team, we took too many defensive players. I think Stone overestimated our offense when he took KD. He probably thought that if he took KD, our offense will flow better. The intention was good but I can't blame Stone for that mistake because it is good to have many 3 and D players. The Rockets with Harden and CP had too many 3 and D wings too. Ariza,Tucker,Mbah and others. It can work and would have work if there is chemistry. This Knicks team is defense oriented too. They don't even use Clarkson that much and he is more offensive minded.

    Great post.

    I believe!

Here's another comparison. Both teams have 2 championships. ...but the Rockets are more current (for now).

Biggest difference is competency and drive to win. No one in the rockets org really wants to win

that’s the reason that the Knicks who HAD their starting PG added guard depth at the deadline

7 of the Knicks top 8 rotation players shoot over 36% from 3. (Brunson, OG, Bridges, KAT, Shamet, McBride, Hart)

That team is built around shooters. If you try to double team any one of them, you're leaving a shooter open.

The Rockets are not the same...not even close. Teams double team KD, and the rest of the team bricks or a turnover happens.

Seeing how Knicks play together and how upset they are at not converting before a quarter when they are up 9 shows how in sync they are. Reminds me of how we played together the year CP3 was here and we went to wcf. You know when we actually had a good coach

Agree! We both have a midget starting point guard and a fruity rainbow center.

    Fvv and Sengun. The future.

are we going to mention how the Knicks didnt build this team with a bunch of high draft picks? They didnt rely on the draft to get their next superstar....

    AI breakdown:
The current New York Knicks were built through a patient mix of calculated free agency signings, shrewd blockbuster trades, and Villanova connections, orchestrated by team president Leon Rose.
The franchise pivoted away from chasing aging superstars and focused on acquiring high-IQ players who fit into winning systems.
    The Core Roster
Jalen Brunson: Signed in free agency in 2022, he took less money so the team could build a contender.
Karl-Anthony Towns: Acquired in an October 2024 trade that sent Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo to Minnesota.
Mikal Bridges: Traded from the Brooklyn Nets in July 2024 to solidify the wing rotation.
OG Anunoby: Acquired in a highly successful mid-season trade that sent RJ Barrett and Emanuel Quickley to the Toronto Raptors.
Josh Hart: Brought in via a 2023 trade deadline deal to provide hustle and leadership.
Mitchell Robinson: The only rotation regular drafted by New York (second round, 2018).

Sooooooo.... all that "the only way to get a superstar and build a contender is through the draft" isnt really the case here... right? :)

Brunson is a dawg. Towns is playing hard and isn’t a wuss like Sengun. And everybody else can shoot and dribble.

We had almost identical regular season records so the teams are comparable. They have an absolute dawg and big shot maker in Brunson, and their guys actually play together. They are also hot at the right time, kind of like our run in ‘95.
