I think you're getting caught up on position titles. It's 48 at one position or 96 at two positions, doesn't matter. The point stands.
Agreed - or try and find a vet to ride the pine and play 12 minutes a game if FVV dies again. Vet min salary though. Also, I would be all over taking a PG with one of our 2RPs. I like Thornton on a 2way. Much agreement with you on "use our space on real areas of need". Stretch 5 [dunno who?] Perhaps parlay DFS into Monk? [as a salary dump for the Kings] Then Adams out for an asset and lower contract to a team in need of a vet big
Ime will play FVV 36 mpg. If I have one complaint about Ime is that he tends to overplay some of his players like FVV and KD. Stone and Ime need to fix the Rockets roster composition this offseason. I think that it is obvious to most people here that the Rockets do not have a quality backup 1, to allow FVV to stay fresh in games and for the season. For all we know, FVV may be minutes limited next season as he recovers from his injury ... perhaps no back to backs. Stone and Ime have to assume that this will be the case this offseason ... but ... given their track record ... maybe they won't.
I’m of the opinion that we don’t give up any assets for a player on the current iteration of the team. If we’re truly ‘running it back’, let it be the exact squad we have. Once we trade Durant then I’d start dealing a little more. But ideally you’re trading some of the young core for picks.
I’m looking more at the backup 2 this offseason. If FVV comes back healthy and Reed continues to progress, then there won’t be many minutes for another PG. I’m looking for one of these players in the offseason. Vet Min or TPMLE Tim Hardaway Jr Landry Shamet Jordan Clarkson Trade targets Klay Thompson
The Rockets were generally good with either Amen or Reed, with guys that fit those 2. Not always good offensively or defensively, but good enough overall. The problem is that injuries caused the Rockets to play guys that sucked, didn't fit with those 2, and the Rockets lacked a star. If FVV is healthy and plays well (like he does), the Rockets problem will be lack of a star and not backup PG. Personally, I want the star to be the offensive engine more than an offense-only PG.
Is there any chance Andrew Nembhard could be a guy that's available? What would he cost if he was? I was thinking about guys who can do "prime FVV" type of things and he's a guy who jumps out as that sort of player. Good on-ball and team defense, good AST:TO ratio, shoots a lot of threes and has become decent at making them.
I disagree. Our on-ball creators have to be able to take care of the ball and space the floor. Amen doesn’t have the handle or the shooting. Sengun has great handle for a big, but not for ur on-ball creator, and he certainly can’t shoot. We saw that Durant can’t take care of the ball when he’s the on-ball guy. Just really disagree with your take. We need a guy who can take care of the ball, space the floor, while creating for teammates. Fred from 3 yrs ago did it very well. We haven’t really had that since. We need it badly.
Nembhard and Nesmith from the Pacers were just average players at the perfect age 25-26 with a great team construction for playoff basketball with the 2025 Pacers. Their PG(Haliburton)was faster than Reed/FVV Their SG(Nembhard)was as fast as Amen Their SF(Nesmith)was faster than KD Their PF(Siakam) was faster than Jabari Their C(Turner) was as fast as Sengun We have more talent but it’s slower. They shoot above their weight class and control the flow of the game. How many times do Donte Divencenzo and Kyle Anderson have to kick our ass before people get it. Speed, skill, fluidity as a team is a better advantage to height. If we don’t trade 1 of our tall/slow power forwards for a starting guard and move our guys up a position we’re ****ed. Simple as that.
I don't think Nembhard is as fast as Amen, but otherwise I agree. I think we need to move away from this offensive rebounding plan completely and go smaller, faster, better spacing.
Hell yeah, that’s fair. Amen is fast. I’m worried he’s so fast he’s got Ime thinking he can be the only fast guy. i think we have 4 good power forwards in our starting lineup. Jabari(shot looks cool) KD(4 on GSW death lineup, hall of fame) Amen(2nd n dunks this season behind Mobley) Sengun(Allstar, Steven Adams, worldcup 4)
I think you're missing the point. They're all plus-creators at their positions. That doesn't mean they can play PG. It doesn't mean we don't need a PG. It just means mathematically there is a lesser need for playmaking concentrated at the PG position.
