Look at the bozos that the Republicans embrace: Rush, O'Reilley, Falwell, ad nauseum. Moore is not the problem. Picking an effective, simple marketing message and sticking to it is how the Democrats will right their ship.
Where are you getting this figure? Tens of millions would represent at least a third of the people in America ages 0-14, and nearly 30% of the population under age 18. I find it hard to believe that nearly a third of the non-adult population is unable to procure a meal.
actually, i think ya'll've got it backwards. the republicans don't embrace rush, o'reilly, et al. rush, etc. embrace republicans. michael moore had a seat of honor at the DNC, next to a former president. quite a difference.
More than 13 million children are going hungry, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. About 16 percent of all households with children are in danger of going hungry, according to the USDA. I apologize for overstating the numbers.
In the days leading up to the election Bush and or Cheney were interviewed by Rush and O'Reilly. They weren't interviewed by Moore, Bill Maher, or Paul Begala etc. The other places definitely would have loved the chance to interview the President, but the invitation the President accepted was O'Reilly. The reason why Moore can have a seat and the other guys can't, is because Rush et. al travel in the guise of journalists, or least folks in the journalistic field. Moore is a film maker.
Exactamundo http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/daily/site_083104/content/eib_interview.guest.html The Republicans don't embrace Rush and his ilk? Baloney.
Mad Max and Basso; While security was a big issue the decisive issue that broke Bush's way was moral values. While many people voted for Bush out of concern about security many also voted against him because they believed that what he was doing was making things less safe for America, hence polling that showed those who thought Iraq was the biggest issue favored Kerry. Historically this election was still very close. If Kerry or say Lieberman had campaigned the way Basso might've liked, being a hawk on Iraq, it probably would've cost him more votes among his base than he would've picked up.
Rush identifies himself as an entertainer and constantly denies that he is a journalist. He is a commentator. What stories has he broken?
If Rush is doing interviews and a commentator on news stories, he is in the journalistic field. I don't think you will get any argument from me that he's a journalist. To call him a journalist is insulting to the profession. Yet he does work as a commentator in the journalistic field. He's commented on numerous news stories. He also interviewed perhaps the top newsmaker in President Bush.
excellent points. you're probably right. play to your base, not to the middle...that's how you win elections.
