I'm not normally one to post trade proposals, but I've always really liked Aaron Williams, and he's getting just under ten minutes per game for New Jersey. Whenever I've seen him play he's shown me a TON of athleticism, the ability to block shots and rebound, and surprising touch from mid-range. Any chance New Jersey accepts a couple of prospects like Nachbar and Gaines for him? And if they don't want Gaines' longish contract, switch him out for Lue? I mean, I like Nachbar, I don't really want to give him up. He's finally starting to show that much-advertised long-range J. But he's no savior, and I think Williams would complement Yao better than Juwan or Mo as a starter. Thoughts?
I'll basically take anyone that can rebound and defend, especially if it gets rid of either Howard or MoT, preferably Howard.
There was actaully something on the hoopshype website that said the Hornets were really interested in gettng him, so he is on the block.
On the block...or sought by Scott to replace Magliore? What does NO have to offer? BTW - I love the guy, good 7/8 rotation type. But, what is the real upside on the two young guys, Boki and Gaines?
AW is a nice player. I like the fact he likes to work in the post. I think he is more of an "off the bench" type PF that provides offense. But if you take on AW I really feel we would have to move either Taylor or Howard. No sense adding AW if you have Taylor/Howard/Spoon/Padgett on your team already. If I was going to add a PF I would try to go after Jerome Williams.
Plan A : I'd propose we take Mourning and Aaron Williams for Mo and Boki. Or Mo and Lue or Ward or whatever they want. So long as we dump Mo. They need scoring and a guy that can run = Mo. They need to dump Zo. Check. Aaron Williams is just another bench player with a slightly fat contract. On the plus side for us : Zo is a good balance of personality and skills for Yao. We keep Zo's minutes down with Williams (and Padgett ?) as backup. We move Howard somewhere else, too, in a seperate deal. Hopefully we get a pg or sf. Denver? Chicago? Plan B : We take on Zo with the Trade Exception. In a seperate deal, we trade Howard for Williams. Flip flop te and trade bait forward as necessary. We then move Mo somewhere else, too, in another deal. Hopefully we get a pg or sf. Seattle? Boston? Yao/Mutumbo Zo/Williams/Padge JJ/Boki Tmac/JJ Sura/Ward/Barrett
Well, I have read on there before that he was available, but the story today was how the the Hornets made a call to see how to get him. The story said that the Nets were looking for young expiring contracts in return, and that Williams' contract has a trade kicker, so it was going to be hard to make a deal. Said a third team could be involved.
Aaron rebounds, hustles, fights for position, plays good defense. can give you maybe 6-8 pts a night from putbacks and will occasionally break out for 15. I like the guy, if we can get rid of MoT or Juwon, I'm all for bringing him in if possible I'll give you a bull**** trade proposal right now. Juwon Howard and MoT plus 2005-2007 first and second round picks for Jason Kidd and Aaron Williams and anyone of their scrubs in for salary cap purposes. and yes I know its a ****ty proposal, but we have a ****ty team right now, so everything associated with it is just plain ****ty
If they actually do this, I might crawl out of my cave and stop acting like a doom and gloom Cubs fan. I'm not used to feeling like this about the team, this feeling of hoplessness sux big sweaty balls
NJ may move Zo and Williams to us if it involves our TE, future picks and most likely MoT (younger of the two smaller size contract I believe) than JH. NJ is looking to drop their bigger contracts so that when they move to brooklyn they have a small payroll for the new owners. Thorn is in a bind with Zo right now, Zo wants to leave, but Thorn doesnt want to trade him nor shell the cash to buy him out. Maybe if we give him enough incentive. I would believe that given the recent moves by NJ the TE would be very enticing for them to get.
Bring Zo in, then ship him out. We have enough backup centers. I'm sure there are people around the league who would gladly give up a athletic sf who does a little bit of everything, assuming we get Aaron in the deal
If we bring in Aaron Williams, we wont need Zo to masqureade as a PF. We can ship him out for an athletic body or someone who can hit a frigging 3-pointer
trade proposal I read this at hoopshype.... The Hornets have contacted the Nets about Aaron Williams, according to the Bergen Record ... it goes on to say that Williams has a trade kicker and a third team may have to be involved. Nets want back young players and expiring contracts. So trying to stick us in the middle of this... NJ trades Williams and Jason Collins to NO NO trades PJ Brown to Houston Houston trades Weatherspoon and Lue to NJ NJ gets two expiring contracts. Lue at the end of this year, Weatherspoon next. Weatherspoon helps fill the void of big men and Lue is the pg to replace Kidd - Joke only. They move Collins who has four years remaining on his contract. NO gets the desired Williams and they use Collins as a replacement for Brown. Not as good, but a lot younger. They are going nowhere this year, and they know that. Houston get the PF they desperately need right now. Comments...
Young players Spoon and Lue. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, yeah, I guess so, if the old general manager has alzheimers.
I like your ideas Pat. I don't think the Nets are looking to trade Collins but if we can get PJ in a 3 way we will be in better shape.
