OK, I just got a 2000 Land Rover. I'm pleased with it so far with one notable exception... My A.M. stations don't work... at all! F.M.-just fine. Hell, I even have a weatherband that comes in crystal clear on two frequencies. I can drive right past the greenway plaza and nary a peep from 610! Any ideas as to why this would be happening? I've been told it might be a computer coded thingie, but that sounds r****ded. Any thoughts?
I might, rabbit, I might. (a cookie to anyone who gets that reference) Just note, you're talking to a person who didn't break down and get a CD player until 1997. I tend to wait a ridiculous amount of time before following a trend. I also pretty much only listen to 610, and the fact that my car won't pick it up ticks me off!
No, it came with a cassette player. (2000, sheesh!) Factory components. My thing is it'll pick up FM and WB bands from miles away. I was coming in from Memphis this weekend, and my presets started filtering back in 100 miles out of Houston. It seems this truck either has two separate antennae for the bands, or there is a computer glitch. I dunno. I was hoping someone here may have had a similar experience.
Fatty, I gots me a 2000 Discovery II & have zero problems, much less AM radio issues. I installed Sirius on top of everything too. If it's under extended warranty, take it in. If not, these guys: Rover Shoppe are the best in town & better than the dealerships.
I've had a broken antennae before. Believe me, there is a big difference in FM reception without one. I just traveled to Memphis in this, like I've done several dozen times before. The FM worked exactly the same as my last vehicle. Unless this car has two different antennaes for AM and FM, this is not the problem.
Don't the FM and AM radio have different antenna inputs? That's where your problem may lye. Check the wiring to the am input. By the way....I finally broke down and bought a cdplayer for my truck for the first time last week.
Typically they don't for cars, but this one may be the exception. That's why I was asking if anyone had had this prob before.
Ummm, we're talking about Clear Channel here. And the temp no-ad thing is a stunt. As soon as the 1st 10,101st song ends you will be BOMBARDED with ads.
I'm sure it's not going to last like that. I mean how could they with not having any ads? It's a promotion gig. I didn't like Rock 101, their selection of music sucked. The station used to be good. I liked the morning shows though and that is what I am going to miss.
I still think you have a broken antenna wire or it is not plugged into the radio well. I am not talking about a broken antenna. The slight gap caused by a broken wire or poor connection acts as a capacitor that will kill you AM signals but not interfere with your FM. I have had this before. You really should check it out.
