Just curious if Grant Hill would have been available in the T-Mac trade. The guy is looking all-world and a shoe in for come-back player of the year. How would a back court of : Sura, T-Mac and Hill looked? I obviously have no clue if this was even an option but to think what might have been. All great passers and Hill might have provided the leadership and heart that this team needs. BTW, Hill, TMac and Sura would be a very good rebounding back court.
IMHO, though not in the same league health-wise...#33 should be the reason we look at another Dukie, J. Williams, in the event that he ever shows promise to step on the court again.
No, I wouldn't say that. As well as Hill is playing right now, you never know when he might go down again. Maybe his last surgery was a success, but I don't want the Rockets taking that kind of gamble. If he was a throw-in along with McGrady, that'd be another $14 million we'd have to match. Hmmm, Taylor + Weatherspoon....
Salary cap wise, the trade wouldn't have worked with Hill. We would have had to basically take only T-Mac and Hill and get nothing else so I doubt the Rockets wanted any part of Hill.
I thought we had a chance to do it, with Taylor and someone else - (Boki?). I was (of course) all ready to dump Taylor, but CD seems to love the guy.
Actually, I don't think the Rockets had a chance at Hill. I remember reading that Orlando was keeping only Hill/Garrity off the market. Not sure about Garrity, but keeping Hill was a win/win situation for the Magic. He either comes back and helps the team out (which has happened) or they get his HUGE contract coming off he books in 2 years. I would have loved the pick up Hill though, not sure how he would perform under JVG though. But I know for sure that Orlando was intent on keeping Hill around, his contract coming off the books, along with Dwight Howard/Francis/Hedo, makes Orlando a real nice target for FAs.
Gucci, I remember reading that he was available, and that the Magic were unconvinced that he would be able to play and were willing to dump his contract. Guess they are happy they didn't. DD
i would have certainly considered rolling the dice on Hill the talk in Orlando late last season was they were pushing Hill to not comeback, have Hill retire due to injury and then contract off the book or covered by insurance, so after 2 years of nothing from him i would guess Hill would have been available
