Jamal had a rare good regular season but a no show in Nuggets playoffs. One of the main reasons, Wolves bounced the Nuggets. Good offense, maybe worse defense than FVV, also short. Often targeted on defense. If a Jamal pkg, I rather send out FVV + salary filler than KD. Removes a redundancy. Jamal on paper is a bigger name but that contract is huge. No extra picks. Nuggets should be compensating us for putting them under the cap, they're stuck after that terrible Christian Braun overpay. Their owners reportedly wary on roster cost, looking for any excuse to reduce.
I actually do think I could see them being interested in a roleplayer package for Murray. I think they would clearly want more than just FVV and salary filler though. They need to build out their bench better. It's too bad Tari isn't tradeable for us this offseason as part of a package deal, I think they would be very interested in what he brings to the table to help Gordon in protecting Joker on the defensive end. I still think Murray is a pretty underrated player. With Joker out this January, he did not decline like you might expect, he actually excelled. He averaged 28, 9 and 4 on 52% / 43% shooting that month. He is a guy who I think generally stands up well to higher usage any time Joker is out, and he has consciously allowed himself to be the second fiddle because he knows Joker is even more talented. I don't think he is a true #1 option, but he is probably closer than any of our young guys are right now. He's legitimately one of the best movement 3P shooters in the NBA--probably the closest guy out there to Steph Curry in that regard.
A lot of people are too caught up in the moment. He’s still a very good player and absolutely someone you should consider targeting if he’s available. I’d be really interested to see how his two-man game would look with Alperen Şengün. Even though Alp isn’t anywhere near Nikola Jokić’s level, he still has the skill set to make that kind of pairing intriguing.
For $50+ mil a year, he better . He makes more than KD ($43 mil). He doesn't shoot better than KD, he does bring playmaking (which we need). He's good, but very imperfect and injury prone. For that money, Nuggets should be paying us for taking that contract off their hands. It's one of those deals that I'll listen, but not pursue unless Nuggest sweeten the pot. Jamal is one of those buys, where after purchase it limits what other upgrades Stone can do. So Stone better be very sure.
I agree—he doesn’t really fit our timeline when you factor in the extensions we’ve got coming up. But for a team that’s just missing a true star, I’d absolutely take that swing. For us, it makes more sense to stay disciplined and make smaller, smarter moves—guys like Quentin Grimes and Robert Williams III who can fill roles, defend, and complement what we already have. I think we get impatient with our young guys. We haven't seen their peak yet. And KD was the best thing that happened for us in a long while.
Idk man I was visiting Oregon but flew in and out of Portland. My wife wanted to visit some damn twilight spots and before I knew it we were driving a rental car through what looked like a refugee camp. There are gnarly ass places in Houston but I had never seen anything like that in Texas.
would love to see it. Durant might be able to get 40 games into the season without popping off on burner accounts and ruining team chemistry.
Don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t move to the West coast and their homelessness and open drug markets for anything, but I have friends that swear that there are places in that city that are absolutely great, like most cities those areas are shrinking.
Keep talking sh#t about Portland. We don’t want it to get out that it’s an awesome place to live. the west coast is terrible. By all means, stay in beautiful Texas.
Some people confuse being uncomfortable with actually being in danger Driving on a Houston freeway is statistically far more dangerous than walking past a homeless camp, it just feels more "normal" because Houstonians are de-sensitized to it.
I actually think that we are going to get a better return than most people think. I also think it’s entirely within the realm of possibility that we do essentially run this team back, while trading Sengun.
