CJ had a phenomenal rookie year and then regressed the past 2 years, blame it on the OC, blame it on the O Line, blame it on the scheme but at some point, CJ has to be accountable also. Do you pay him now? If you want to pay him where he stands, in QBR CJ was 9th in 2026, would I mind paying at a price at that level, I might, but his team will not want the pay of the 9th best, they will want to set a new market and that I am not comfortable with at this point and I love CJ, but the prudent thing to do is play this out, if he does great then he will have bet on himself and the Texans will likely have to pay a premium, but if he is just so so then you have to look at options. If he takes up 20%+ of the salary cap you have to justify it and the smart play for both parties is to ride this out. I could see a scenario where CJ is OK this year, the Texans are not 100% on board with $50-$60+ million per year and they trade him for a high draft pick, and he gets a new change of scenery, and the Texans get a new QB who is on another rookie deal and we invest more in RB and D, I don't want that at all, but at some point they will have to decide to go all in or cut bait

Skip Bayless thinks we should have paid Stroud before Anderson? LOL

    Man, what's he smoking?

I love how the talking heads want to commit to CJ. Why? To stir the pot, to create drama. What's his face saying he'd be pissed if he was CJ because we paid Will. Well Will was #2 in DPoY rankings and has consistently exceeded expectations. CJ on the other hand failed miserably in two straight games, that directly led to us missing our best chance at a Super Bowl appearance ever.

Stay the course Texans. You've added protection and weapons to the offense. No more excuses, let's play ball and if he earns it, I'm sure they'll pay him.

Let's say CJ has a down year (again), do you sign him to a 2-3 year deal or let him walk?

In that scenario, I look to trade him to someone that either wants to gamble on his 5th year turnaround or someone that believes they can fix him to be their franchise QB. It will absolutely suck if that's how this plays out, but I wouldn't want to have to live through the Tua situation in Texas.

you franchise tag him a couple of times and see it play out while working on getting his replacement in those years if he is really bad

Are they desperate for drama and trying to create some? I wouldn’t be surprised if the Texans had already communicated their plans with C.J.

Agree. There's a lot more to lose by jumping on a long term deal before next year than in waiting. Yeah, they will pay more down the road, but that's the cost of football. That's better than jumping the gun and getting stuck with him if he has more concussions or doesn't make a big leap forward. Then you would be trying to trade an overpaid QB. Honestly though, I don't see how he doesn't improve with a stronger offensive line. I'm hoping he does, and can avoid more concussions with more time to get rid of that ball.

I'm not turning on Hannah, she did what she professionally does best. Marketing and that's not conducive to winning championships.

Night and day? As in one is viewed from the front and the other from the back. Other than that, they look the same.

Felt like last year he wasn't able to finish his throws for whatever reason and rather than having a tight spiral, it fluttered. It also looked like he had that parabolic humo in his throws far too often, not a lot of snap/spin.
