Tilman doesnt give a **** about this team because Stone should be fired for that alone. He would have wanted Shead here had he been paying attention.
i think a good litmus test is if you fired Stone today would he be employed tomorrow? would any teams really hire Stone as GM?
Yeah we are cooked lol Ime said he didn’t want to take away from Reed or Amen’s development. Then after the deadline, Stone says we’re not a development team. So which is it? That’s a clear disconnect—are we developing or trying to win now? Hard to move forward when the message isn’t consistent.
This might be the absolute worst thing I've ever heard a GM say in any league, anywhere. This is on the heels of the entire country seeing us choke a game away because he didn't have a PG that could handle the ball end of game, and totally ignores the fact that "cobbling together" a PG using Amen also involves a guy that can't shoot, and using Reed involves a guy that can't defend. He contradicted his own reasoning. How inept can a person be?
I agree. I think the hating on not getting a PG is out of proportion...given that the justification was appropriate Here is that scenario 1) There is no way this team is competing for a ring (established premise) 2) Get Reed and Amen experience at the PG, minutes for the former especially since he was not given any substantial minutes his first year
You are missing what Ime tried to do... make Durant and Sengun bring the ball down the court all regular season to be halfcourt trapped.
On the KD take, better to move off a mistake than live with it. My problem with running it back with a healthy Fred and Steveo is: 1). Even if KD, Fred and Steveo stay healthy, we are still not a contending team 2). They won’t all stay healthy 3). Getting no return on KD after giving up Jalen, Dillon and #10 would really suck. 4). KD was clearly not good for our young guys that supposedly are the future of this team.
As much as I don't like it, I don't think they have much choice but to run it back. They've backed themselves into a corner and need to give it one more year to save face. And that's exactly what they are hoping for because there is no way they are going to surpass OKC, SA, and now possibly even MN next season. So it's either blow it up, which means Stone and Udoka almost certainly get fired, or try to piece together something competitive and hope for the best. The wildcard is Giannis. I could see Stone throwing a hail Mary to acquire Giannis...
Giannis would be a dumbass to allow himself to be traded to Houston. He should know that you have a no-offense coach who'll basically hope Giannis and KD can save the game, and nothing else. Plus, the Western Conference is so stacked.
Something that is surprisingly absent from the Giannis debate is, would he even want to come here? He’s going to be able to dictate where he goes to some degree. he wants to go to a contender. Houston is far from a contender. direct flight to Greece. Houston has no direct flights to Greece. Houston hasn’t even been remotely rumored to be on Gianni’s’ short list. New York, Miami, even Toronto and Atlanta are all better options for him. Of course, Milwaukee has the benefit of being able to offer him the super max and he’s comfortable there, so he may not even leave Milwaukee. All of this is just to say, Houston is probably a long shot for Giannis. The odds are much better that Milwaukee will continue to try and bring in players that make them more competitive to keep him. Which is why the rockets should seriously consider negotiating with the Bucks for KD. Right now they are slated to have the 10th pick in this draft. They would probably give that up for KD.
After watching the exit interviews, it's pretty obvious to me Stone and Ime has the safest jobs in the league because our owner and his son are morons when it comes to managing a basketball team. We're quite literally running it back with the luxury tax and hope FVV can fix all our problems. Other teams in the playoffs also dealt with injuries all year and even now but don't use it as an excuse. Lakers, TWolves, heck even the Thunder are injured. The Rockets though? Leave it to Stone to use the injury excuse for our season. The truth is he just signed terrible players that don't actually contribute to team success, we had the worst bench in the playoffs and it doesn't take a genius to see we have major offense issues that Stone refuses to address.
They have to match salaries so the 10th pick and? It would have to be Kuzma and MPJ to make since roster wise for the Bucks and then how do they fill our their roster? If they send out Turner they don’t have a center.
Or you could take into account that Stone and Ime throwing people under the bus saying "major changes are needed" makes it harder to do any of the deals they may be trying to do. I agree with all the criticisms of Stone and Ime for the roster, prior moves, and schemes. But to look at that PC at face value for any info is a mistake.
