I remember when all the Rockets fans were bashing a young Robert Horry.
I see the similarities with Yao.

    Yao:
A fresh charismatic player from the East who plays for Jeff.

    Horry:
A fresh charismatic player from the East who plays with Jazzy Jeff.

People wanted him traded. People complained of his erratic play. People were waiting for him take the lead. People wanted to know if he can play with a superstar like Hakeem. People wanted him to shoot more.

Well eventually Horry shot more shots and important shots they were.
Well Horry proved that he was a champion and became a fan favorite.

Yao will turn the corner like Horry and prove you haters wrong. Just give him some time.

I have a feeling when we play Orlando on Jan. 24th at Toyota Center that the Magics will come out with alot more emotions and intensity than us.

    Steve/Mobley/Cato + Hill

So you're saying Yao will be only as good as Horry, so don't set your expectations too high? hmmm ok.

I think everyone was thinking that Yao would be a superstar and that's why alot of people are disappointed right now.

Yao is still physically not capable of going 35-40 minutes a game. He's averaging 30 mins per game this year. By comparison, Shaq is at approx. 35 mins per game this year and has averaged 37.6 over the course of his career. Garnett averages between 38 and 39 mins a game, Duncan and Nowitsky are both around 36-39 mins per game. I can't think of another "superstar" caliber player that is limited in such a way. I know Jermaine O'Neall's averages are low but he was a backup for his first 4 years. Since then, he's about a 34-36 minute per game player.

I know JVG has done everything possible to get Yao fit, but apparently Yao is not taking to the training. I know Horry blew up after getting himself in shape. You can't blame JVG for the physical part, that is purely in Yao's hands. Yao looked even worse at times with the Chinese National Team coached by Del. I don't know, maybe it's his size or add physical nature to begin with that limited him. He may never be in NBA superstar shape and he certainly isn't right now.

Yao better be a LOT better than Bob Horry, or we're in a lot more trouble than I thought we were.

Last time I checked, Horry was this role player coming off the bench to give some boost with his 3 pointer shooting with 6 rings. Not very good comparison. I hope Yao doesnt end up like Horry, hell no.
