Saints: Sullivan, Smith benched for eating

    News
Saints' head coach Jim Haslett placed defensive linemen Johnathan Sullivan and Shaun Smith on the inactive list for eating a pregame meal in the press box. "I don't know what (Sullivan) was doing up there," Haslett told the New Orleans Times-Picayune. "He's supposed to be in the locker room with his teammates. I don't know what they were looking for." When a member of the New Orleans media suggested the players were searching for food, Haslett said that wasn't necessarily the case. "You don't know that," he told the reporter. "That's what they found. But you don't know what they were looking for."

In case you were curious, Smith ate a few hamburgers, while Sullivan grabbed a bag of sunflower seeds. Haslett will likely have plenty of time to investigate what the players were looking for once he is fired at the end of the season.

It seems they were benched for being in the press box when they should have been in the locker room. The food seems inconsequential.

It is amazing how quickly Haslett has lost control of that team.
