i think this should be put your john hancock on the paper. this means "signature" since he's got he huge signature on the declaration of independence.
Dude did you read the title of the thread? BTW - you guys are right about saying metaphor but meaning "metaphors, cliches, and the like."
My favorite, which I use often, is "we'll burn that bridge when we get to it." I wouldn't say it was mixed so much as pessimistic though. Now, I'll make like a tree and get outta here.
My father used to say, "A bird in the hand gathers no moss." There are a lot of Yogi Berra ones including (I think) "I want you guys to pair up in groups of three and line up in a circle." I like the mixed metaphors that have been posted so far... colorful and clever. I'll have to use some of them.
you Valdez's had to have planned that. crazy if you didn't. and "we'll burn that bridge when we come to it" is probably my favorite so far. it's also the most natural sounding one and one that could actually slip out/be used for real. the others are all too forced.
That was phenomenal! We are now putting together the SportsRadio 610 Cowbell Band! Brilliant! Absolutely wonderful!
Did not plan that. I don't think it's the first time we've done that on the BBS either. We're always thinking the same thing anyway: flesh of one flesh and all that. I do use the phrase quite often, in place of anytime one would have occassion to say they'd cross a bridge yada yada. It may be more common for me because my wife likes to plan ahead and I like to deal with things as they come up.
