Almost undoubtedly, yes. Criticize him what you will, but he was one of the more effective Presidents in history. Looking at Clinton vs. Bush, it's pretty much no contest. Clinton would win again.

Why is Gore trying to separate himself from Clinton? Gore can't take credit for the positives of Clinton/Gore, and then blame the negatives on Clinton. I would not be so sure that Clinton would run away with an election with GWB. There is a backlash with Clinton/Gore and the poll results show it. Gore may not have the charm of Clinton, but he is an exact copy.

If you want to vote for Bill Clinton again, vote for Al Gore.

Clinton barely beat Bob Dull, and that was before he was impeached. Bush is a much better candidate than Bob, as far as the public goes. If everyone loves Clinton so much, why is Gore behind by double-digits in the polls? If the public thinks Clinton has done such a great job, Gore would be leading. Simple as that.

Was Clinton/dole a close race ? I'd like to see the #'s. Also, when clinton ran against dull, his approval ratings were below 50% (i think), and now, it is around 70 %. Bottom line, the nation feels secure and the economy is still booming. America wouldn't want to change the formula that has worked the last 8 years.

I would vote for Clinton over Bush, anyday.

Certainly. We're living in the 80s again, and people like their status quo.

I'm not sure what numbers you're referring to, but Clinton I thought, crushed Dole.

I've heard a theory that, in the end, people tend to vote in a candidate that they believe can be most presidential. The theory being you aren't just voting for ideas, you are voting in a leader. Clinton has lost his ability to command respect. I think he would have a hard time winning the nomination of his own party after all the embarrasment he has caused.

It would all depend on which way the wind was blowing. I know there are a lot of people who really think through which candidate their going to vote for, but there also seems to be a lot of people who tend to sway back and forth.

I would vote for Yes for Clinton again because alot of things have stayed uniform when he was around. Not that many BIG changes that come and go. Last time I checked, Clinton had Dull beat by at least 20% +. And about Gore and Bush. Gore's rating has dropped ever since he picked up Lieberman. Why? Because Lieberman is an avid supporter or the PTC (Parent Televison Council) and the PTC is not THAT appreciated. Bush, well Bush he would've lost against Bill because of his previous accusations about him being on drugs.

I thought it was around 49%-41%, with Perot getting the rest. I know Clinton didn't get 50% of the vote. Of course the electoral vote was probably not as close. More than half of the voters didn't want Clinton though.

Again, shouldn't Gore be way ahead in this case?

Clinton would win in a LANDSLIDE.

And the last election was not even close. The popular vote was 49% to 41% but the electoral vote was a landslide 70% to 30%.

Personally, I love Clinton. I think he has done a hell of a job leading this country back from where it was. And isn't it ironic that it was the Republicans who 60 years ago passed and approved the amendment that limits a president to just 2 terms because they were jealous of FDR winning all the time? Then, they try to repeal it for Reagan. Clinton is in the same boat. He would win the next 2 terms in my opinion. His rating is super high right now. Too bad he gotta go.
