Talentwise, they maybe at the same level. Kobe has drive and determination. TMac just lacks it. It is painful to see Yao and TMac defer to each other. Maybe by the end of their careers, this camparison will be like comparing MJ with Dominique Wilkins or Clyde Drexler.

Here's some 'additional research' for your thread. http://bbs2.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=83644
Under the current circumstance, I would love to see TMac takes 35 shoots a game and yell to his teammates "You (Yao) guys suck." Unfortunately, he shot one for eleven and murmured" I didn't expect to be double teamed here."
Until TMac atually wins something, he isn't as good as Kobe. However, I think that success is indeed in Tracy's success.
Tmac = Dominique Wilkins/Drexler Kobe = Jordan Put Kobe in this team and he'll lead us and Yao better than Tmac. Tmac is just the same as VINCE CARTER .... laid back wutever wutever guy.
t-mac is the next dominique kobe is the next MJ Lebron is the only Lebron. only one of them is making a name for themself.
I'm of the opinion that Kobe's toxic personality and exclusive devotion to self and self-promotion negates nearly all of the amazing things he can do on the court. Hey, maybe he changes over time and can lead the Lakers somewhere. Until then, my evaluation of him is somewhat low. On the flipside, this is also McGrady's chance to prove that he can be more than a great player on a bad team. His work ethic and determination look like they're considerably lower than Kobe's, even though he is far less selfish in his attitude. At this point, I still consider it a push. But I know I'd much rather have McGrady on my team than Kobe. Evan
Is there any particular reason why Lebron doesn't have the "hasn't won anything" stigma that T-Mac has? I know he's still young, but that doesn't change the fact that he hasn't won jack in the league.
Because the kid makes his team better. The current Cavs wouldn't win a game without Lebron. What sick is that Lebron doesn't even get the ball half the time. He seldomly forces the action. If he did, he would average 40 a game.
Well in LeBron's 2 years in the league his team has done better than T-Mac's both years! (so far this year at least)
Umm... Yao, as a 2nd year player, was the best player on a playoff team in the west last year. It certainly hasn't stopped the bashing on him or any ridiculous claims that he's a top 3-5 player. If Lebron leads the Cavs to the playoffs this year, his accomplishment would be the same as Yao's last year. And as for the whole 19 year old slant, that doesn't work. Just because he's playing at top level now doesn't mean he'll continue the progression curve that late-bloomers(KG, T-Mac, Kobe, etc.) followed.
Yao was never bashed for his team's accomplishments (or lack thereof). People bash Yao for a variety of reasons all directly related to his indivdual performance. Lebron has been very productive, and shown a big improvement in his game over his previous season. So bashing him for not taking a lottery team to the playoffs in his rookie season (at the age of 18) is a tad unfair don't you think? Especially since at least early in the subsequent season, he is leading a truly pathetic surrounding cast to a winning season.
