Former top FBI officials sue, say Kash Patel fired them to stay in Trump's good graces

Three former FBI officials---including former acting FBI Director Driscol---sued Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI director Kash Patel Wednesday, claiming they were fired on orders from the White House and Justice Department as retaliation for their work.

Patel, the suit claimed, "explained he had to fire the people his superiors told him to fire, because his ability to keep his own job depended on the removal of the agents who worked on cases involving the President. Patel explained that there was nothing he or Driscoll could do to stop these or any other firings, because 'the FBI tried to put the President in jail and he hasn’t forgotten it.'"

This lawsuit comes a month after NBC News reported that Driscoll, who briefly served as acting director at the beginning of President Donald Trump’s second term, was fired. Driscoll made headlines when he resisted a Justice Department directive to turn over a list of agents who had worked on Jan. 6 cases.

In Jan 2025, during his confirmation hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee, Kash Patel assured the Committee
and the country that ‘all FBI employees will be protected against political retribution.’”

The lawsuit alleges Patel acknowledged to Driscoll that firing FBI agents without cause would violate internal FBI rules and
    probably federal law as well.

“This is not a selfish endeavor,” Driscoll, who was fired after refusing to help gather names of FBI personnel involved in
investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, Trump-fueled attack on the U.S. Capitol,

“ I hope this effort results in protecting others who did no harm and committed no misconduct from wrongful consequences.”

The FBI has been “completely politicized by individuals whose interests are contrary to the pursuit of law and order
and the protection of our country's national security,” Mark Zaid, one of the lawyers on the case

Not confident he will be unbiased in running the FBI. The statement from the article above makes him seem like an appointed puppet of an Authoritarian regime. That, and the fact that he and Vance followed Trump around like lapdogs begging for treats during his campaign and trials, even going as far as dressing like him.

"Patel, the suit claimed, "explained he had to fire the people his superiors told him to fire, because his ability to keep his own job depended on the removal of the agents who worked on cases involving the President."

White House Official Busted Insulting ‘Giant Douche Canoe’ Kash Patel

Salisbury simultaneously praised and insulted Patel. Specifically, Salisbury hailed the director’s decision to fire several FBI agents who had been photographed kneeling during a protest in 2020 after the murder of George Floyd:

“This is how Kash survives,” Salisbury wrote. “He will do this stuff for the man but day to day giant douche canoe.”

This week, Patel also fired an FBI trainee for having displayed a gay pride flag in the workplace last year.

“You are being summarily dismissed from your position as a New Agent Trainee at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia, and removed from the federal service,” Patel wrote. “After reviewing the facts and circumstances and considering your probationary status, I have determined that you exercised poor judgment with an inappropriate display of political signage in your work area during your previous assignment in the Los Angeles Field Office.”

Uh, what? I think the FBI was doing fine without UFC "instructors."

This will turn into a huge government contract for Dana White and man, is it going to take an army of accountants to do the forensic analysis of this administration.

We could really use those guys right now. Turns out they were also some of our best Iranian counterintelligence team.

Kash Patel gutted FBI counterintelligence team tasked with tracking Iranian threats days before US strikes, sources say

    https://www.cnn.com/2026/03/03/politics/patel-fbi-national-security-division-firings-iran

Just days before the United States launched a major military operation in Iran, FBI Director Kash Patel fired a dozen agents and staff members from a counterintelligence unit tasked with monitoring threats from Iran, according to two sources familiar with the matter.

They were ousted for a simple reason: Each was involved in the investigation of President Donald Trump’s alleged retention of classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago estate.

At Patel’s direction, FBI employees are polygraphed in an effort to identify leakers. One former official told me that bureau employees have been asked in these sessions for opinions about Patel’s perceived “enemies,” as well as whether they have ever said anything disparaging about the director or the president.

Patel has held on to his job in part because of his commitment to using the federal government to target political or personal adversaries of the president.

Days before the United States launched its war with Iran, Patel fired members of a counterintelligence squad that was devoted, in part, to Iran. The director said in testimony before Congress that the agents had been let go because their work investigating Trump’s handling of classified documents had placed them in violation of the bureau’s ethics rules. But multiple officials told me that they were concerned that the firings had been rushed and would leave the U.S. shorthanded at a crucial moment.

Patel has publicly proclaimed that the FBI needs to demonstrate that it is “fierce,” and officials I spoke with said that he is fixated on that image in private as well. He recently expressed frustration with the look of FBI merchandise, complaining that it isn’t intimidating enough. Officials have grown accustomed to such behavior, and they have learned to roll their eyes at it. But they said that the absurdity masks real concerns about what Patel’s leadership has meant for an institution that the country relies on for national security and the safety of its citizens. “Part of me is glad he’s wasting his time on bullshit, because it’s less dangerous for rule of law, for the American public,” one official told me, “but it also means we don’t have a real functioning FBI director.”

what a joke of a human being

This might explain why he looks so anxious/shaky at times. Withdrawals are a b****.

Hopefully he gets the help he needs.

Dude is creepy as hell. I still can't believe that guy is head of the FBI. Whiny little butt kissing Trump b*tch man boy with a beard. He sounds like some teenage nerd talking with clothes pins on his nose, and those wandering bug eyes creep me out. Tod Blanche and Kash standing right up Trump's butt nodding and smiling at his attempts at humor tonight, and smiling and sucking up to his narcissistic speech was pathetic. Those aren't men. They are his little b*tch boy servants. Watching Trump spew his narcissistic BS and lies tonight was par for the course. I don't see how anyone can stomach that blow hard and his BS. It's nauseating. A few minutes was enough for me. I can't even imagine being so bored in your life that you would choose to attend a Trump rally.

Appointing political sycophants with zero experience and no institutional connections in their departments to leadership positions across the government while cutting ~400k government employees with decades of experience and institutional knowledge is exactly why Trump is failing now and will ultimately fail in his attempt to stay in power past his term. The gears of government are barely turning, subordinates are demoralized, burned out and hate/resent their leadership. When ‘it’ comes, the entire foundation of the government will grind to a halt because the worker bees will stop their work and their ‘leaders’ won’t know wtf to do.

TLDR; you can’t build on a rotten foundation.
