I still can’t believe we lost like that last night. Absolutely brutal. Total collapse. No composure, no confidence, no coaching, just panic. WTF.

When every single one of your players exhibits ZERO basketball IQ for an entire playoff series, that is only a sign of how bad a coach you are.

God it's so refreshing seeing someone else who knows defense. Saying the part out loud right out the gate about Amen's defense.

Don't know how many times I commented this season about 'DeFeNsIvE gUrU' Udoka absolutely sidelining and making worse his all team defensive player.

Also, it should be a permaban from here on out, any time someone says Udoka is a good defensive coach.

    No. He. F*cking. Isn't.

In fact I'd say there's so much proof in the Rockets defensive schemes, he has absolutely no idea what he's doing defensively.

It's embarrassing there are hundreds of better coaches out there than Udoka, but because he was a garbage NBA player, he gets elevated above all of them due to nepotism.

I would say Ime is the worst in utilizing timeouts in the most crucial times of the game...also, one can argue we had all the momentum so don't call a timeout for the Lakers to regroup.
I've never seen a basketball team lose so many close games, especially when they're leading in the final minutes of a game!
I've been watching basketball consistently since game 4 of the 1995 NBA Finals and this team is mentally weak.
If we retain our core group, this off-season needs to incorporate team building and some Escape Game activities because they need to become mentally strong and grow the notion of playing for each other.
The 1995 Houston Rockets team was the last champions to exhibit this behavior...we need to do something "different" this off-season

You don’t know bball if you think that. He made one mistake. I love Amrn but he made so many more dumb turnovers throughout the game.

We have coach who puts players in the worst positions, situations, and doesn't actually coach them up or build up their confidences.

I don't if Amen or any of the other young guys can actually be core pieces of a contender, but weou will never be able to truly make that determination with Udoka as the coach.

I can tell you right now that if Amen can’t knock down wide open shots, it will always make the game tougher for his teammates as his defender can sag all the way off and dare him to shoot. Doesn’t matter who’s coaching for that. It’s a glaring weakness and it’s a personal skill thing.

They fought hard this game but still came up short with multiple terrible plays at the end. This team isn’t mentally sound.

It was inspiring to see a spirited comeback and the ending was so crushing.

I always said if he knock down a dribble pullup j from 18-20 or a three point shot this team would be very good. Prob number 2 seed. We wouldn’t see most of the issues we see. Teams can’t double sengun and durant and rotate out to him as he shoots or drives. A lot of times we lose because teams dare him to shoot and simply focus on Durant and sengun

The fact this roster has so few shooters is a huge reason why the offense looks stagnant. Of course the paint is packed,,,our roster can’t keep them honest.

There was a possession last night where the lakers ball movement looked incredible swinging the ball around the perimeter…and the Rockets were working so hard to close out…I thought man how nice it would be to have that. To have meaningful ball movement around the perimeter because the defense actually has to respect it. That’s how you get defenders out of position and exploit spacing. But it fundamentally will not happen if the defense doesn’t believe the offense can actually knock down those shots

I do agree with that. But is he only 23 and he improved his FT from 68% to 77% at a higher rate in 1 off season. They also asked him to do more to off set the loss of 2 veteran starters from last year on top of his own personal growth. That is a lot to ask and put on a player's plate.

I do think he can get close to league-ish average shooting wise. I said awhile back that I think he can get to Rondo levels of streaky shooting but it would take a few years to do that.

He isn't a primary star player though. That ship has sailed.

I had to step away from the forum after last night's debacle. Reading this thread wants me stay away until some changes are made.

#1 - Fire Ime Udoka. He's not a leader and not the right coach for this team/franchise. Negotiate some kind of settlement and even say it was a mutual decision or some sh_t like that.

#2 - Either fire Stone or move him to another position and hire a BBall GM and keep Witus.

#3 - Find the right HC to develop a young team. There's a guy already in the city, who's familiar with the team I'd consider--Kelvin Sampson.

#4 - New GM/HC look at roster and decide next steps (Push forward with core or soft rebuild).

My recommendation would be a soft rebuild. Which means trading the following players for picks/players to fit with new coach/system.
    - KD, FVV, DFS, and Tari at a minimum.
    - Goal would be at least one 2026 1st rd pick in the 12-18 range.
