That was just weird. We definitely didn't go for best picks available. Man, he was so far down that list I can't believe we traded up for him. Do you really think he would have been gone if we hadn't traded up?

This is what I’m thinking. The way they platoon OLmen they saw some ‘versatility’ in him in case our OG FA get hurt. Move him to OG and let Jake Andrews play Center.

The way the Niners traded down as soon as the Texans jumped in front of them, makes me think the 49'ers might have wanted Rutledge.

Everyone shot in the gut by trade, whispering their final words in Rutledge’s ear:

He better not be another 1st round drafted OL flop...

He is a big boy at 330. At least CJ won’t have DT in his lap after step 2 of a 5 step drop… if Rutledge isn’t a bust like Caserio’s other IOL picks

As much as I don't like the trade, if this kid ends up panning out and the interior of our offensive line is in a better position for the foreseeable future, none of us will care or remember that we swapped 3rds to get him. That being said, he better pan out. If he doesn't and Nick just whiffed on another first round interior lineman... he gone.

I don't get people saying "They could have drafted this other guy two picks later!"

Well, obviously they think this player will be worth it, if he is, no one will GAF about trading up two picks to get him. Looks like the 9ers must have been on the same guy. I get not liking the pick but we needed interior linemen and this guy is one of them. Who knows if there is a guy who comes after that might be better or he might be a first ballot HOF, who the hell knows.

I do know a good GM seeks out talent and not draft spots. If they think this is the man then it makes sense to pick him here.

If he sucks, then that's on the GM, but I don't mind the gamble.

It's so funny how irritated people get when a player gets taken just ahead of them. We trade up to get our guy (and based on the 49ers reaction, I think they had pretty good intel that they wanted Rutledge) so it wouldn't happen again. Fan reaction? Overpay! He would have been there in 2 picks. I don't know anything about Rutledge, but it's always funny to me how much people complain no matter what happens.

I’m confused…..but I’m also on Guiness #8…..here’s to hoping the Texans know what they’re doing….at least we can say Demeco allowed the pick not to go to the defense…

I’m only complaining bc Caserio sucks ass at drafting lineman, especially guards.

ABC ran a short video about him almost losing his toe after a car accident.

He was going to sneak into day 1 and the 9ers just traded down right after

All I know is GT runs the ball a lot and they stood toe to toe against that Georgia D both in 24’ and 25’. Plus he’s a GT player so he’s kind of a nerd. I’m guessing he’ll get a shot at Center.

Yeah, with them trading right after I can accept it a little more.
A buddy of mine was saying they were targeting Oline

I think it's an overpay not based on any idea that he'd be available later but based on the fact that i don't think he'll be a quality starter any time soon... and that's not what I want in the first round
