if we had the chance to trade one of our 4's for an ending contract would you do it?

howard, or spoon to boston for michael stewart seems possible.

howard or spoon to seattle for potapenko, or james.

mo, or JH/gaines to dallas for allan henderson.

personally, i want to keep mo on the bench as a 6th man. i also feel that we could get alot in return for a package of deke, spoon, and jj this summer when they all enter the final year of their contracts. so i would vote to move JH if possible.

what are your thoughts on the possibility of making this kind of move? would you do it, knowing we are getting nothing in return?

I have thought about this matter smoothie. Getting an expiring contract may not be difficult but I think we should look for the possibility of getting something useful in return despite the low chances of it happening.

SO what besides less rebounding in 20 minutes does this trade do for us? Does it improve us contractually? Pls provide details of $'s and contract length.

Maurice Taylor is our SECOND HIGHEST PAID PLAYER @ $8.5 million this year and two more years after this season. He's a proven scorer all over the court, but is a black hole offensively and is a pitiful rebounder. It is simply inexcusable when your 4 is outrebounded by PGs more games than not.

Spoon is #3 on the payroll. Howard is #4. Neither of them is suited for more than 15 minutes a night at this point. Howard, in particular, as been shockingly disappointing after being a 17 and 7 player his entire career.

Simply put, These 3 players constitute over one third of our team's payroll and are hoplessly ineffective in the games.

The best thing the Rockets could do at this point is to bite the bullet and buy out Taylor. No one is going to trade for this dead weight around our necks. Unlike the Shandon Anderson's and Mourning's of the world, he would fetch much more than the minimum if he were released ($4 million, I would think), meaning the Rockets could concievably buy him out for $10 to 16 million, depending on when they do so.

Why pay him to leave? Because this summer will be our final opportunity to be a player on the market. Even if we can't get under the cap, we can get low enough the using our trade exception would be considered. Alexander won't pay into the lux tax - meaning as long as Taylor is here, he won't spend anymore than has the last two summers - last minute players willing to take pennies. Once Yao is extended, the combination of two max contracts will consume 3/4ths of our salary cap and will assure us of being well over the cap from then on. Buy Taylor out this summer and bring in free agent help before we are relegated to the bargin bin.

Mo Taylor, if a team exist that's stupid enough to want his contract, is the perfect guy to get rid of. Removing his contract gives this team a lot more financial flexibility the next two offseasons. With the way Padgett's playing right now, it won't even hurt us much short term.

I honestly think the Rockets could still get something good for Mo Taylor. You never know, it's like that old saying goes "one man's trash is another man's treasure"...I'm sure there are teams in the east who would give up one of their PG's for a scoring PF.

You never know, some low scoring teams like New Jersey, Atlanta and Golden State might like his scoring ability... But in return we should get someone who's tough on defense, personally I like Adonal Folye...

I'm not shocked at all. I saw it coming, I'm Noah telling you to get on the Ark, I'm the telling the captain the ship is too close to the iceberg..
I told you not to draft Sam Bowie..

Being on the Rockets is the ultimate test of one's true nature.
