In early 2025, career Miami prosecutor Maria Medetis Long was assigned to lead the case. Due to lack of evidence, she had been resisting pressure to quickly bring charges against the former CIA director

On April 16, 2026, Long was removed from the case, replaced by former Trump 1.0 campaign lawyer, Joe diGenova,
the one with the pornstache.


A small handful of subpoenas were known to have been issued over the weekend for witnesses to appear before a grand jury in Washington.

On Monday, the subpoenas were being withdrawn by the DoJ
