I was thinking about asking for a 20GB or 40 GB Ipod for Xmas. If anyone has one can you tell me what you think of it? I haven't really done much research on other mp3 players yet...are there any better alternatives?
I just made a thread about this a few weeks ago, decided to get one and I really enjoy it, the only thing I dont like about it, is that it seems the battery dies quickly and I have to charge it a lot, but other than that I enjoy it. I got a 20GB, thats all that really most people need, holds 5,000 songs, dont know how big your music collection is though so..your call on that one. I know a few people posted some alternatives for me, just look around might find one better. Thats just my two cents
Not any better alternative but there are much cheaper ones out there that will do everthing an Ipod will do but just not as easily or as cooly.
I dropped the 300 bones on my 20 gig and haven't made a happier purchase in a while. The only thing that would have made it better was getting it for free as a gift. They're fantastic.
I bought one a month or two ago, and I really like it. I recommend buying one. I have to try to fix it or something now though... I was listening to it when I went to bed, and i fell asleep and slept on it. And the clickweel hasn't been working properly after that. lol
Is there a way to seperate the music in your ipod into groups or playlists? I have a bunch of rap and rock music and it would be nice to have a playlist for each genre.
Yeah, pretty sure you can make a playlist in iTunes and just listen to that. Alternatively in the iPod, under Music, you can select Genres and hit play on any particular selection and it'll play all the music in that category.
i got one a month ago and love it, although the battery seems to die quickly, probably because I forget to click the hold button. if you are a student, or just unethical, you can save $30 if you buy off the site and do the student dealy thing. I have the 20gig, and even though I have about 10 gigs of music, i find my self deleting a lot of crap that I was keeping for unknown reasons. nothing worse than putting it on shuffle and getting a slew of horrible songs. the 40 g is nice, but only really worth it if you plan on also using it as your p*rn backup harddrive. i was very skeptical at first on getting an iPod because I thought people had em just because they were popular, and ive gone through a lot of mp3 players. get the ipod because it is the only machine out there at its size and capacity to also have a very easy organizational system and memory for which songs you like. with 2000 songs, if you want to get the song you want, you can do it in less than ten seconds, in a dozen different ways. I have yet to see that in any other mp3 player that Ive had or tested.
Do you mean just because you would accidentally turn it on, or when you shut it off you should turn the hold button on and it will save battery life?
i had trouble starting it...it was complicated in the beginning..but its pretty good overall. you should try the freeipods web site. i got two of them from there.
I've gone through about 3 different MP3 players: Creative 30gig Zen NX iRiver H20 IPod 4th Gen. 20gig. Out of all 3, the best by far was the IPod. The iRiver may have more functions (radio, in-line recording, and etc.), but the ease of use, size, and intuitivity of the IPod kills the competition. Also, I recommend getting a iSkin for the IPod. Even though it may seem kinda dorky to get a case for you IPod, it will save your life if you ever drop it or scratch it.
Has anyone ever had to send back their Ipod to get new batteries? I am a little hesitant to commit to the Ipod because it has no way for the purchaser to change the batteries w/o sending it in.
Not true. The only difficult part is opening the case, and the resellers all include a tool to simplify that procedure. http://www.ipod911.com/ http://www.pdasmart.com/ipodpartscenter.htm
Check out the Creative Zen Touch as well. 24 hour battery life, 20 GB with WMA capability, has a touch pad that rivals the iPod, and you can get one at amazon.com for $200. I have read alot of good reviews about it, and will probably get one soon.
I just bought one for my girlfriend for X-mas. Amazon has the 20 gig one for $275, with free shipping. Its the cheapest I've seen. I've been loading my CD collection on ITunes and its really the easiest thing ever.
Do those websites really work? You get a free ipod if you do all of those steps? Seems like a lot of stuff, but I guess it could be worth it if you get a free ipod.
ive gotten 2 wrapped, in-the-box, ipods . in all honesty, it worked for me. so it definitely works, and its worth it if you really want an ipod. when i did it, there was this one in which you have to bid on an item on ebay. so of course i bid on items where i have no chance of winning. theve taken that down due to the obvious loophole. i think the ones they make you do now require you to do stuff like officially signing up for a credit card or signing up for aol and stuff.
