Not to take away anything from the admittedly awesome Manning. But it doesn't hurt that Tony Dungy is from the John Jenkins never-call-off-the-dogs-ever school of coaching.
Like playing the backup QB for the entire 4th Quarter? Dungy running up the score would be like Jack Pardee running the wishbone.
You obviously didn't watch the Texans game a couple of weeks ago. The only reason he put his backups in on Thanksgiving Day was due to the Texans rightfully b****ing about them running up the score and passing the ball with less than four minutes left and a 35-point lead.
Dungy obviously felt the Texans were about the same as his own defense and felt his team could use some added practice time. ORRRRRR he just knows that you don't piss of the fantasy football players.
cant really say since they had no offensive help for Manning. He is doing this with great offense help with recievers and a great running back. Yes he is a talented player but of course having all those weapons makes him greater. Do you think that San Diego had the talent that he needed to become that great? I don't think so honestly.
The main problem with this is that there are so many variables that come into play with this, hindsight is 20/20 and if the Chargers did draft Manning then it's next to impossible to say that they could of got LT, that's similar to saying what if the Rockets would of drafted Rashard Lewis. Most people would say yeah we'd have a he'll of a squad if we had him, but then if the Rockets did draft Lewis most likely they would have not been in the position to draft Yao.
While Manning certainly has a good offensive squad around him, I personally think he would be doing what he is now even if he had a crappy RB...or at least close to what he is doing. Wasn't Edge injured a lot last season? And didn't he still win Co-MVP? The receivers are good, and the O-line is great, but I honestly think Peyton could have resurrected that Charger team (moreso than now, and faster).
It makes no difference ~ you put Leaf in the Colts system and he's breaking the records and Manning is out of the league.
It's not like San Diego was the team making the choice. Indy had the #1 pick in the draft. Picked #1 and #2 and look at the difference. CRYan Leaf proved that 4th graders cannot play professional football while Peyton Manning is going to throw 984204903 TD passes Then Compare the next Season 1.) Tim Couch 2.) Donovan McNabb 3rd pick was Ah-Kill-Me Smith then you got Culpepper and Aaron Brooks later on. Couch = looking for a job McNabb = looking for TO
Lets see if he can win, if not get to a superbowl first before you start making comparisons with the all time greats.
I just wish he would throw to Reggie Wayne more often. I have Payton as my QB and Wayne as one of my WRs. DD
