Totally agree. But you know if the crime rate ticked up instead of down, Mamdani would have been pilloried for it even though he would have been no more responsible for the loss than he was for the actual gain. But, yeah, its bs crowing about this like a Mamdani win, just like Trump's crime-fighting claims are bs. And, I can't be calling BS on Trump and let this slide. The crime phenomenon is bigger than any single politician.
I heard about this. Seems like a tragic case of mental health breakdown and psychosis. Hence why Mamdani wants to invest in solving homelessness and his "B-Heard" initiative to gather folks with mental health problems off the streets of NYC to get treatment so they do not cause issues like this. However Mamdani is facing a budget issue to fund these programs due to wealthy New Yorkers opposing tax increases to make their city safer. In this case the NYP was on the scene fast to take this guy down, but having only Police response is creating reactionary safety instead of preventative which costs money. It's also a good thing this happened in NY and not Texas where our practically non-existent gun laws could have led to a situation where a mentally unhealthy individual like this could have easily obtained a militarize weapon to create a mass casualty event. So question back at you since you care about solving violence in NYC: -If you lived in NYC would you support raising taxes on wealthy individuals to pay for preventative safety measures such as B-Heard, or would you rather just deal with the issue with brutality like Republicans in the past have advocated for? -Would prefer NYC maintain strict gun laws, or would you prefer that NYC adopt more of a wild west Texas style of gun regulation to make the streets safer for patrons?
Cut spending and the fraudulent hospice, daycare, and autism scams before another dollar is asked from taxpayers. This is a spending crisis. GOOD DAY
