Not when they score 6+ runs in 4 L's of the 6 game losing streak. No lead is safe with this trashcan of starters and bullpen.
This is not a playoff team. With the health issues already occurring, the lack of decent pitching (which has been rock solid for years), lack of clutch hitting with RISP, this team might be done by Memorial Day. At some point Crane and co. Are going to have to make some long-term decisions about this ball club. I know Crane has said that the championship window will never be closed so long as he owns the team, but I can’t see this getting any better any time soon. If the Astros were a SP2 or SP3 away, then maybe you look to make a trade, but the pitchers you’re dependent upon are not cutting it. Maybe 2026 is a step back year, but that would require Crane to spend money in the offseason to shore up this team’s deficiencies — starting pitching and the bullpen. I hope I’m wrong, but this team is in serious trouble at this point in the season. And while I’m sure some folks will say it’s early, the Astros cannot afford to dig a hole so deep that they’re spending the rest of the season digging themselves out.
Hader still injured after a month early vacation last year and no postseason. He had a baby TJS, be real. Offense didn't score after the 4th inning. They had plenty chances with runners. Every big name had chances with runners. Trammel beat all of them. Pitching, SIX runs after the 4th. Lance is not a starter. Give him an opener for a chance to qualify for the W. Blubaugh should have pitched the 9th. He had a clean 8th, there's no save situation, and the bullpen is on fumes. Abreu needs an MRI.
Too bad our new hitting coaches can't fix Yainer. He's on the team for his bat, not for his defense. If he isn't providing competitive at bats; he should be replaced. Basically, the opposite of Jake Meyers who is on the team for defense.
That’s too late. He, along with the pitching coach, should be gone tomorrow. We have the worst pitching in MLB by a substantial margin. A big factor in that is walks, 10 yesterday, 7 today (including 3 in the 9th setting up the Mariner win). I realize this isn't the case, but it doesn’t seem that any of our pitchers care whether or not they walk the hitter-they’re afraid of contact. It is true that if you pitch to contact you sometimes get burned— but at least there are not all of those other guys on the bases at the time.
How many times did the 3rd base coach not send a runner home that could have made a difference tonight, at least 2 by my count but I’m sure I missed a few
7 runs and losing continuously is frustrating. The goods, Cam, Lope, Yordan, Correa & even Trammell. Sit Yainer for a week and put Vazquez to send a message to try to wake him up. Trade for good starting pitching or this season is lost. Only 1.5 games out, still time as no one is running away with it.
We were in worse shape last year. The pitching will get better. The offense has actually been good enough all year.
Time for Abreu to go on the IL. Take McCullers and put him on it. This team is garbage. Seattle found their offense. Shocking!
