Maybe rather than retaining scrubs due to their lack of options and Rule 5 provisions... keep Arrighetti, Ullola, and the like on the active roster?
Three Ls in 4 days vs suck teams is tough, but they've all been fluky with errors and non-catches. The pitching will quickly sort itself with Arrighetti's return, and Javier Abreu playing better.
Eh. The hitting is not going to continue on its current pace, but the Astros probably aren't going to pitch to a 6+ ERA for the season either.
Anybody have a clue how you leave in a reliever long enough to watch 8 runs cross the plate in a game in which you were up 3-0? Anybody ever witness this before?
That's what happens when you give up 12 runs the day before and lose your ace starter the day before he has to start. Several relievers weren't available and you have to navigate a whole game. So your emergency starter and long reliever have to combine to go more than 4 innings or you'll run out of available pitchers. It's math.
Coulda, shoulda, woulda won that game if it wasn't for that ridiculous 5th inning. Everything went haywire after Pena screwed up going the wrong direction for that ground ball. We came so dang close to leaving that inning up 3-2. Oh well, at least we got to see Cam knock that homer up over the trees, even against the wind. Let's sign this kid to a 10 year contract and lock him in now. He's only 23. Make him a forever Astro. That would be awesome! In case you missed it....
No one pitched after Abreu yesterday, so win or lose, they were generally in the same boat, though not sure if Abreu was available today or not.
