You didn't watch. Reed being out there is there reason the Rockets had a lead for Ime to **** up by benching him for Holiday and Tate. If Ime doesnt bench Reed, the Rockets win without any drama.
I don't know but I cannot for the life of me understand why he still seems so lost out there on defense on so many key possessions. I forget which one it was that got him pulled, but the dude looked like the John Travolta in Pulp Fiction meme. Reed on D: At this point you cannot say he just isn't getting the minutes, or he's "a rookie", etc. etc. Dude is a straight up bone head on defense for some reason. Add that to the fact that he's a little shrimp out there most nights, and its a recipe for disaster if he's not sneaking under their legs to get an occasional gotcha steal. A skill that only reinforces his urge to ball watch, and get caught off guard again.... and again.... and again.
If Reed was as bad defensively as dumb people think he is Reed wouldn't have been +10 in the game while his super defensive replacements were -4.... Just a complete inversion of reality
He was getting picked on and making mistakes. Against most teams you can probably leave him out there but Ime (correctly) recognized that the Warriors were going to skin him alive in the final 4 minutes. Not against that team and not in that moment.
Hes still young man. He's undersized and needs a lot more than Tari or Amen to be a plus defender. More than just simple reps and film time. He needs years of strength and understanding leverage. Not worried about him and not worried about him getting (mercifully) pulled yesterday.
That is true. But he isnt the maestro on offense Steph is nor the defender Steph is to justify his presence. Like....I'm cool with him getting the reps but we lose yesterday if he's out there. Sengun got ****ing benched for jacking up a 3 lol what chance did Reed have. The reason that game was close yesterday wasnt Ime. It was Dickerson not being able to dribble or pass in Year 18. He is a worse version of Harden in the clutch.
The Warriors scored 17 points in the 4 minutes Reed was off the court. The Warriors literally scored on every possession except one.
I'm sure that's what you think you saw happening, but the numbers disagree with you. The numbers are not biased.
I know. I'm high on him long term, but he really needs someone to talk some sense into him about how to conduct yourself on defense in the NBA or else he could very well get tagged as just a 6th man type of scorer who is always on a short leash off the bench because of the reputation. I believe he's got the capability to be a starter in this league, but he's gotta stop being so foolish, getting mixed up still, and ball watching. His gambling has nothing to do with his size. That's a choice, and what's going on between the ears. He's been pulled soooo many times too so I just do not understand why he still does it. Ime won't be the last defensive first coach he'll have in the NBA. You aren't 18 anymore. You are not a rookie despite what his only-fans here continue to spout. It's time for him to stop with the gambling, and this Summer work on your strength then to be able to handle getting bullied. I look at Scott Brooks as a player that gives me hope that someone at his size still can be capable on defense. FVV too I think is a really good defensive player at also severely undersized. There should not be this either or decision that Ime still has to make. The playoffs are only days away. Stop with the BS summer league nonsense.
Turnovers from not being able to get in a damn offensive set to save their lives, and having Sengun run the point forcing the ball to KD with 3 guys all over him. I think that's more of a Ime problem than a Reed vs whomever problem because the guy's offense is pretty elementary, and he shouldn't have Sengun setting up plays from half court. It's obvious Amen, Reed, or someone else needs to be getting the ball over half court, and setting up action with Sengun and KD with them already in their spots, and with movement from the wings. Ime's insistence on late game plays where Sengun, and KD are fighting to get each other the ball damn near half court bothers the sh$t out of me. While I want Reed to start, be out there on offense late game, and to be bringing the ball up, I know that the issue is Ime would still want them to force feed KD the ball with a stagnant offense WAAAYYY too far out of his spots where he'll be forced to put the ball on the floor, and look for a super difficult pass if he can't create a shot. Look at the difference in Kerr's offense last night where time after time again Kerr kept on drawing up really good plays that got wide open shot after wide open shot. I don't hate on Ime nearly as much as some, and I want him to come back next season, but this season for me has highlighted some significant flaws in his coaching preparation and execution of schemes. Very Thibodeau like.
13-4 as a starter, .765 winning percentage over a whole year that is 62-20 or 63-19....... Reed makes the team better. DD
