There was a thread before the season began in which many members felt that James was overrated.

The 19 year old King James is averaging 27.3ppg (2nd), 2.18spg (4th), 6apg (15th), 8rpg, shooting .498% from the field. The Cavs are also 7-4, I believe. That field goal percentage is almost unheard of for perimeter players not named Jordan. Most guys hover around 42%.

I have him right now as the 3rd best player in the game, behind Duncan and Garnett, surpassing Bryant and McGrady.

hes turning out to be great.

but is he even the best guard in his own conference?

dwayne wade is over 4 inches shorter than lebron, but is shooting .544 from the field.

    now that is simply ridiculous.

dwyane wade and lebron james are both amazing players. The pairing shouldn't be Lebron and Carmelo, it should be Lebron and Dwyane as the next great rivalry. You know if the cavs make the playoffs, they'll probably see Miami sometime and it should be a great matchup. Shaq can take a dump on Z's dome while Lebron and Wade battle it out.

    Is Lebron even a guard?

The guy has started every game at SF this year!!

I know he has the skill to play guard, but he's just not playing there at the moment!

Yeah, he really has exceeded all expectations. I sort of regret drafting McGrady over him in my fantasy league.

I promise you the Mcrady will end the year with better numbers than Lebron. By May,2005, you will be happy with your selection.

We won the lottery just 1 year to early. Nothing against Yao he appears to be headed towards stardom. But LeBron is something else hes 19 and looking like MJ/Kobe right now give this guy another 5 years and we'll be watching something that we've never seen before. . .

In his prime he'll be able to do whatever he wants whenever he wants on the court. It'll just be like when he was in high school.

Why are we so afraid to say that Lebron is the best player in the NBA now? What exactly does Tim Duncan and KG have or do better over him? Because he is 19?

For me Lebron is the best player in the NBA. I love KG and Timmy's games but Lebron is in another stratosphere.

Uh, KG is definitely in Lebron's stratosphere. I would say Bron is in KG's stratosphere.

    KG: 23 ppg, 15.4 rpg, 6.7 apg, 1.8 bpg, 1.4 spg, 48% FG%, 3.3 tpg
    LBJ: 27 ppg, 8.1 rpg, 6 apg, 1.3 bpg, 2.1 spg, 50% FG%, 3.45 tpg

Lebron has the scoring edge, but Garnett is absolutely dominating the boards, and a 7 footer averaging nearly 7 apg is unreal. Also keep in mind that Garnett is world class defender, which James is not just yet.

Make no mistake that Bron is a bona fide superstar in this league, right now.

because lebron's played at this level for what 11 games now? shouldn't it take just a little bit longer then that to all of a sudden leap frog over the reigning mvp and duncan who might be even better? lebron is friggin awesome but you don't just get the label of best player like that. if he's really this good then he'll have plenty of years to hold that title.

In the here and now, until KG and Lebron can carry their teams to a championship, neither is in Timmy's stratosphere.

You hit it right calurker. Neither bron or kg is in timmy's league right now. Thats why you will never put the likes of karl malone, barkley, david or ewing over or along side the dream. Simply put the dream strapped the team on his back, a bunch of good players, not all stars and led them to the promised land. Just like Timmy did twice although he had a great help on his first one with drob. Win a ring and earned the title the best player in the game. Just like bill, wilt, magic, bird, dr. j, moses, kareem, jordan, hakeem and now shaq, kobe and timmy.

we dont say he is the best player in the game because he isnt the best player in the game. and why exactly is he in another stratosphere? because wade's numbers seem to be in that stratosphere too.

Lebron is playing very, very well, but let's just wait until we're about 30 or 35 games into the season to measure him. I have a hard time believing that his fg % will stay at 49% for the entire season. Same with Dwayne Wade - there's no way he can stay at 50%+ fg percentage for the entire season. Right now a lot of people's stats are inflated and by 35 games into the season, they should be coming back down to reality.

I think people just like to say the word stratosphere.

    Youngest player to 2,000 points.

I agree with Fegwu, my mind wants me to not say, but my heart tells me he's the best in the game right now.

Lebron so far this year is better than Kobe and TMac. And he's not even 20 yet. This is simply unheard of in the history of this league. I expect great things from this kid in the future.

I don't think there is a player with a higher estimated "present value" than LeBron, nor has there been since maybe since Shaq.
