You know I am one of the biggest Francis fans there is and was pretty shocked/dissapointed when the trade went down but the Rockets have a SOLID foundation for the future. I know we're tired of waiting but give it time, next year or by the trade deadline if we can get a decent PG and solid PF we will be a top 4 team. I miss steve and cat but I've been watching T-Mac and man the guy is really unselfish contrary to what most people think. He makes things look sooooooo easy and smooth. Yao is starting to be more and more agressive and with consistency we will be allright. The team is nowhere from perfect, but the foundation is great. The more and more I watch T-Mac, the more I get excited about the trade. He had 25 or so points last night with little effort, half the time it seemed like he wasn't even involved in the offense yet he managed to score that much. Just imagine when they gel and he starts to take over games like he did against the Clippers. I will always follow Steve's career and ruite for him but as a Rockets fan I am very optimistic despite the gaps in the team and the slow start. Also, I think the ROckets need to run more pick n rolls with T-mac and Yao. Anyways, that's my 2 cents b/c I know there are lots of fans who liked steve and cutinoe alot and are missing them more and more with the way the home-team is off to a slow start but things will only get better.
I also think we should start Howard, cause he ain't giving us anything when Yao or Mac take some rest. Have you guys notice that this team is missing MoT energy of the bench from last year. And MoT though has more minutes this year. but has a better average in points last year though his rebounding has improve.
Nevermind the fact that we lost by only 6 to a playoff contender on their home court during a tough road trip and we actually had the lead and a chance to win down the stretch. Man, these "sky is falling" posts are getting tiresome. There is a time and place for that and it isn't now.
Losing to the Kings in a close game on their court is nothing to be ashamed about. Last night's game was actually quite entertaining except for the last 3-4 minutes. Look, even the Spurs have a losing streak now and they've been healthy and played together for a long time now. We'll be ok in a few more games and will have a nice winning steak going when we hit the easy stretch of our schedule.
Well said. When it comes to letting team grow together, i'm patient. This is the very first year T-Mac and Yao have played together. Unlike other stars in NBA, T-Mac and Yao like to share the ball, have great ability to pass, to shoot. With these two on the team, winning consistently is just a matter of time, And a matter of a few trades?!
An argument, again, based on stats. Yes, stats are telling but not the entire story. Just because Yao gets his and Tmac gets his, doesn't mean they are as comfortable with each other (or with the system) as they will be 20 games in, 30 games in, 40 games in... have patience, theres more to it than a boxscore. Stuart
If we could just be a little more aggresive on the defense, we'll be good. Lue and barrett impressed me lastnight. Tyronn is looking for comfortable out on the court as well. I still like our team, and I think we are getting closer to what we expect.
It might be because JVG has asked him to step up a bit and take the shot since it's obvisouly higher %. Plus, he's been getting, for the most part, single coverage, and I think the team expects him to take it up strong when he's guarded only by one defender.
I think you forgot MJ/Pippen. Losing a close game to the Kings in Arco is nothing to be worried about. Lets have some patience and see what happens in Utah.
I don't think the original poster was saying two man teams can't work, I think he was saying THIS particular two-man team is not going to work.
This is so right ... The way the Rockets played last night would have gotten them a W 90% of the time. Sorry, but if a team has a shooting night like the Kings did, it is going to be extremely hard to win.
Codell, I don't doubt that Yao/McGrady can and will someday be very very good maybe even special. My problem is with this organization's ability to go out and actually FIND that "strong supporting cast". Exactly who is going to be the person or persons who will find the players you mention? Dawson? Given his patheic drafting, bad FA moves, etc., do you actually feel that he is the right person for the job? And if not him then who else do you see in this organization that's capable of doing what you and the others expect - building a championship contender?
Even Bobcats can beat defending champ. We are talking about playoff. Can our team match up with other contenders for seven games? QUOTE]Originally posted by RocketManJosh This is so right ... The biggest problem is Rockets can 't make sure to outplay the team SUCH AS Hawks ,Knicks,Raptors and so on.
