Watch out for this one guys, it looks very convincing, and takes you to a page where it asks ALL of your personal information, including the 3 number code on the back of your credit card!
I emailed paypal and they confirmed that the email is a SCAM!

Here's a copy of the email I got.

I have gotten an ebay one like that too. It said your account would be closed in 3 days if there is no response. Needless to say, my account still works.

Yeah, it's a dead giveaway if they ask for your password or your financial info again. Never give out that stuff at anybody's request. The legit places will never ask for it, and you just don't want to do business with any places that do, do it.

This is called a "phishing" scam and I've received several emails claiming to be from eBay, Discover Card, Wells Fargo, CitiBank, etc. They do look pretty convincing. I've told everyone I know about them. They seem to get shut down pretty quickly if you contact the company being spoofed.

I got that one as well about 6 months ago. It looked very convincing except I caught a misspelling in the email address. I sent a reply daring them to cut off my account because I'll just simply make a new one. :D

Result: Account never was closed :)

Yeah, I've seen these, the real deal will always address you by your name. Not as Dear XXXX customer/ user. Still, it always good to keep a heads up on these type of things.

You should post the website on the email so we all can take a look at it.

Result: You verified your email address for the scammers.

Recommendation: Don't ever reply to spam.

It's good that you inspected the message closely enough to see that it was BS, though. Better to be on a spam list than to have your identity stolen.

I get these all the time - also from banks that say they'll close your account unless you give them your password, etc.

If you are worried you are getting something like this, check out

Somebody else has probably already reported it.

Yeah I get the one from E-bay quite frequently stating that I am being investigated for fraud and need to provide my info or I will be prosecuted. I sent it to e-bay and they confirm that its fraudulant. I don't know but those idiot scammers really think most people are stupid enough to give out their personal information like that.
