To go along with my new signature, I think the Big Lewboski is one of the funniest movies few poeple originaly saw (although more are seeing it now). Dazed and confused was a similar movie for quite a while. What are some other good movies that werent extremely popular? In the drama category, one of the best movies I saw last year was The Red Violin. It is a really good indie flick. Ironically, the one that got popular, The Blair Witch Project I thought sucked.

Dogma was great. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Any movie with Silent Bob is awesome.

    Joe vs. the Volcano

Tom Hanks, Meg Ryan (as 3 characters) directed by Steven Spielberg. Fans thought it was hokey, but a very spiritual movie despite the humor.

Forgot to add my own. If you haven't seen Being John Malcovich, go rent it TODAY. It's hilarious. However, one thing puzzles me -- how much work went into making Cameron Diaz look THAT frumpy?!? I'd bet it was a chore.

The Man who knew too Little is hilarious, IMO.

You're right, The Blair Witch Project did suck. Now, whenever we go camping I always yell 'agghhh, sticks and rocks I'm scared!' [IMG]

The Philadelphia Story w/ Cary Grant is awesome, as is his film His Girl Friday.

A Bronx Tale- DeNiro movie, good flick.
Raging Bull-another DeNiro classic. Best boxing movie ever made.

These might not fall into the little seen movies, but I know many people who have not seen them yet, so I threw them in.

Forgot to add "The Last Temptation Of Christ"
A Martin Scorsese film. William Defoe plays Christ and Harvey Keitel plays Judas. Very thought provoking film.

I don't know how well BOYZ IN THE HOOD was seen, but it was really good.

Dogma was an excellent flick...The best thing about that flick is that the dude I went to see it with was catholic, and he was laughing more than I was...Add the Clerks/Mallrats/Chasing Amy "trilogy" to this list as well...Some other extremely underrated movies...

Weekend at Bernies: This movie used to be shown on HBO 24/7, so a bunch of people might have seen it, but I don't think it made that much money at the box office. One of the few films in which the main character was a dead guy...well, not counting Keanu Reeves's movies, that is...

CB4: Chris Elliot, Chris Rock, LL Cool J...an absolutely hilarious spoof of gangsta rap of the early 90's...

UHF: A great comedy written and directed by Weird Al Yankovic that got lost during 1989 when the first Batman movie came out...Three words: WHEEL OF FISH!!!

Starship Troopers: Am I the ONLY person that liked this movie?? So what if it was a two hour armed forces recruitment video? Take it for what it is, a science fiction movie with great special effects, gory battle scenes, and a plot with fewer holes than The Phantom Menace

Four Rooms: The story of a crazy New Year's Eve at a hotel for a late-night bellhop. I guess you really have to be a fan of Quentin Tarantino to like this one, which I am...

Pieces: One of the grossest, bloodiest horror movies ever...Put's the Freddy and Jason movies to shame...You MIGHT be able to find it in the horror section of a video store that's been around for awhile

I happen to like the movie myself but it did not follow the book very well. The book was one of the greatest books ever written. The only other problem I had with it was that by that time(in the future), you would think we would have had better weapons than machine guns to fight the bugs. Heck we got better weapons now [IMG]

The Natural was a great movie that most non-baseball fans do not like.

Starship Troopers is the most violent kiddie movie ever made. I call it a kiddie movie not to be insulting, but to be accurate. Starship Trooper had very poor acting, and the brain at the end, c'mon, but the funiest thing it that movie happened when the bug crashed through that guy and killed him, and the blond guy (Busey's kid) smiled and made some smart remark about his death. Funny as hell. it had an element of sly satire that allowed me to endure the whole movie

Starship Troopers was great! The propoganda had me rolling on the floor for hours.

A-Train, have you seen Fear of a Black Hat? I don't know if it was ever released in theaters, but it comes on Showtime a lot... Anyway, the film is another hillarious parody of gangsta rap.

Read the book and you will know the story better. The book was written in the 50's and is very imaginative for its time. I agree the acting was poor but Denise Richards sure was hot!!! [IMG]
