He proclaimed that Shaq was probably the best Center ever and that Kobe was the probably the second best guard ever. What a joke.....

Now you know why I usually despise players that leave the Rockets. Freakin' Elie was on the top of my hate list, but I think Whorey just surpassed him! [IMG]

    Mojo,

Are you saying that you are in agreement with what Horry said?

I can't speak for Dr. of Dunk, but I'm more pissed about him quitting on the team in 1998 after the trade rumor.

For being an idiot. For being disrespectful of Olajuwon.

Yes, I do agree with him. IMHO, by the time his career is over, Shaq will be the greatest big man to ever play the game. But, that wasnt my point. My point was, a man shouldnt be derided for having an opinion. People are actually allowed to have them.

The guy wasn't being disrespectful to Hakeem. He didn't take personal shots at Hakeem, and he didn't say Hakeem couldn't play. He just thought that Shaq was the better center. We may agree or disagree, but in the end Shaq will have more rings then Hakeem. Does that make him the better center, maybe, maybe not. But how can you call him a trader, and an idiot and say he is "disrespecting" Hakeem because he doesn't agree with you about the greatest centers ever?

What about Russell? Abdul-Jabar? Surely there are others Horry could think of who are better centers than Shaq.

As far as I see it, until Shaq can hit 70% FT and have a shot outside 3 feet, he won't be in my top 3 list. And Shaq also doesn't really have any competition in the league right now. There are no other Moses Malones or Kareems or Hakeem Olajuwons for him to play against. If he had some sort of competition, I'd like to see how well he'd play.

    My top 3:
    1. Dream -- not just because he's Houston, but because he was unstoppable. Hit shots from all over offensively, and couldn't be defended. Defensively, he's (IMO) the best defensive player ever -- 1st in blocks, 6th (i think) in steals.

    2. Russell -- can't argue with 10 rings

    3. Wilt -- he can't hit free throws, but he did everything else well. His averages are so incredible, they'll never be matched. Wilt reminds me of shaq though, because he didn't have much competition either. But he scored 100 points against mediocre competition. Shaq couldn't do that.

That's not fair to say because Shaq isn't the only one not able to do that, NOBODY has been able to do that. You think that if Dream or Russell were playing now without any competition they would be able to score 100 points? I don't think so.

So,right now in their respective careers, Shaq is already the best big man to ever play the game and Kobe Bryant is already the 2nd best guard to ever play the game?

Historically, Wilt Chamberlain is the only player with whom he can be compared, and even that can be a weak comparison.

"He is so much more mobile than Wilt and has better footwork than Wilt did," said ESPN analyst and Hall of Fame coach Jack Ramsay. "There just hasn't been anyone like him."

You're right, you can't argue with 10 rings, so its even harder to argue with Russell's 11. [IMG]

I definitely give the nod to Wilt over Shaq because, even though they both played inferior competition (physically), Wilt had to go over or around his competition, which takes skill. Shaq is allowed to go through his, which doesn't take skill, just power.
