if they banned folks for stupid posts, this place would have a lot less members. yes..me included. It says alot about the state of the fans in the nba that we have so many that dont see anything but the flashy sportcenter plays, and dont bother to notice the little things that go into player evaluations.. call me as soon as opponent's defenses are totally geared at stopping amare. unitl then...enough of this crap...like Jeff said in another thread(paraphrased and changed to fit the circumstances)..there are other bbs around for you Suns fans to go talk about him at... this particular forum is for talking about Rockets players...not to gush over the achievements of a guy that owes 90% of his success to his highly skilled point guard.
Since we're on this topic - Would anybody not trade Yao for LeBron? I think at this point LeBron's ceiling just seems much, much higher.
This goes back to that old discussion of potential versus production. Amare might make us a better team today, with Motumbo being serviceable, but will we be better off in 3 years? Given a choice, I'd stick with Yao. Centers are what championship teams have been built around since the dawn of basketball. You can teach basketball, but you can't teach height....
I wouldn't. No way, nohow. Yao is too skilled at 7'6" to trade him for anyone in the league. He demands special attention by the defense, usually a double team, every time he steps on the floor. LeBron is very good, but we already have a great scorer at the guard spot, one who has shown the ability to do more than score as well (11 dimes against Portland) and one that plays pretty darn good defense. We need Yao for a presence down low and LeBron would not be able to give us that.
I honestly think Amare's overwhelming success this season is due to Steve Nash. We don't have Steve Nash.
No kidding. With a PG who is as talented as Nash and who looks to pass as much as Nash does, it isn't surprising that their most talented big man is a recipient of many of those passes. I mean, Clyde Drexler just about made Chucky freaking Brown into an all star in '94-95.
I'm not saying in terms of our current team, really, I'm just saying that over the next 10-15 years or so, LeBron's accomplishments, IMO, will be greater than Yao's.
Cavs won't trade Lebron. So put down the pipe and discuss the possibility of trading Yao for Big Z instead.
Only if Cleveland can surround him with some better players. Personally, I don't think it will be too long before you have to include Yao in the same class as Duncan, KG, Shaq, and Kobe. LeBron may achieve that level, but IMO, it is WAY too soon to say that LeBron's accomplishments will outshine Yao's, particularly given the respective teams that they are on. In the NBA, greatness is still measured by championships (one of the reasons I still think Bill Russell is the greatest player ever to lace up and hit the hardwood) and I believe that the Rox are MUCH closer to that level than Cleveland.
If you have not notice but is lebron is almost to that level and may just be on that level, Yao is far from that level. Lebron brings it every night.
Am I going to trade Yao for Amare right now if I'm CD? No way as long as JVG is the coach here. Am I going to trade Amare for Yao if I'm Suns' GM? Hell, no way as long as I have Nash running the show with Marion on the win. Am I going to trade Lebron for Yao if I'm the Cavs' GM? No way I'm going to do that since I have Z. So to answer your question, the Rockets won't make the trade becuase of our system and players we got. It's a more relevent question if you ask this, "Who are you going to draft first to start a team from scratch, Lebron, Amare, or Yao, based on what you know about them now?" I think 40% GMs will pick Yao, the other 60% will pick Lebron, with Amare get 0%.
LeBron is very good, but achieving the status that those other guys have is something that happens in the playoffs, not the regular season. Jordan was seen as a very talented player, but IMO did not achieve superstar status until he won his first ring. LeBron has a LONG way to go before he can be included with Duncan, KG, Shaq, and Kobe. Yao also brings it every night, but he also has constant double teams and very few foul calls. LeBron doesn't rate a double team every time he touches the ball (like Yao does), and simply doesn't affect every aspect of the game every time he goes on the floor (like Yao does). Things might change regarding LeBron's abilities during this season and the playoffs, but you are jumping the gun if you are trying to include him in the top tier of NBA players.
since when do yao bring it every night? and the playoff thing last year was kg first time making it of the 1st round so that means little
