My dad is a big fan of Eastwood and Garner (boy his health is poor). I also like Eastwood, and Tommy Lee Jones a bit. So it seemed like a good idea when he called me up Saturday at noon and asked if I would be interested in going to the movie with him. We arrived after the lights were out and actually struggled to find two seats together, the place was that full. During the movie, I found myself laughing out loud with the crowd many times. I enjoyed the two hours very much. Then the lights came on and everyone started filing out, except me and my dad. We waited until most people had left. And I was shocked, although I shouldnt have been, at the age of this crowd. I imagine a good 90% of them were older than 50. Anyway, most of the jokes I think were mainly Duck out of the Water type of jokes.. You know, 'How this old guy can keep up with the younger guys..' But they seemed to work well. Has anyone else seen this movie? I had such an enjoyable time and lauged out loud many times but I am wondering if it was a truly good movie or if it was just the audience participation that made it good? ------------------ "Her Box Started Buzzing Ever Since She Heard The CRÜE"
I loved it as well. Check out my review of this and other movies on www.swirve.com ! (Shameless plug alert) ------------------ Going for the Rolls Royce! visit www.swirve.com
Seems like we have close to the same taste on movies. I am glad I read your review before I went to see the Klumps. Thanks, you just saved me some money! But as to your question in Space Cowboys as to "Why is there technology developed in the Cold War on a Soviet satellite?" I thought it was that Corvin's boss, I forgot his name damnit, sold the secrets to that Russian General back in the 60s. I remember the Russian general saying he found them in the Boss' personal files and there private talk earlier kinda linked it for me. Is that what you were talking about? I dont want to say much more just to not ruin it for people who havent seen it yet. ------------------ "Her Box Started Buzzing Ever Since She Heard The CRÜE"
Oh, I know from the movie why it was on there, it just seemed that no one really cared aside from Corvin asking a couple of times. To me, that would have been a very interesting subplot. ------------------ Going for the Rolls Royce! visit www.swirve.com
Oh! Sorry. I agree with you. I was actually wondering the same thing. It just kinda died without any real explanation... When are you planning to see Hollow Man? I had no interest in it until I saw an interview with Bacon where he explained how they made him 'hollow'. The interview was cool enough that one side of me kinda wants to see it just for that reason. But the other side of me, says 'STAY FAR AWAY!' LOL ------------------ "Her Box Started Buzzing Ever Since She Heard The CRÜE"
Probably today or tomorrow. I need to see Coyote Ugly too. I'm pretty sure I'm not looking forward to either, but it's my job. Someone posted on our movie message boards if the filmakers know the definition of hollow! ------------------ Going for the Rolls Royce! visit www.swirve.com
"Someone posted on our movie message boards if the filmakers know the definition of hollow!" LOL!!! ...But seriously, how could you possibly not look forward to seeing images of Tyra Banks projected onto a giant screen? ------------------ WE WILL WATCH THEM FALL... Next year
I was excited about seing Hollow Man also -- I saw the thing on the special effects before hand. Then I saw the movie, and didn't care for it much at all. You would think he would use his invisibility to sneak around, doing sneaky things. Nope! He uses it to sneak up on people, and bash them with a crowbar. That's it -- his whole power is to be Mr. Sneaky Crowbar. He doesn't even steal anything, or even sneak a peek in a dorm. No espionage or sneakiness at all. He bareley even leaves the lab. Just turns evil and hits people. The movie team, in fact, was more impressed with the effects of making him partially visible -- like the scenes in the previews where he jumps in the pool or walks in falling water or smoke. Now don't get me wrong -- the special effects are phenominal. Elizabeth Shue is great. Kevin Bacon's acting is good when he's visible. It's just not the action / adventure implied by the previews. ------------------ Stay Cool...
