Someone's translation, - Yao felt that JVG's comment was too harsh for him. He said that Rockets' inside presence was weakened when Cato had been shipped to Orlando. Yao had a goal to average 10 boards a game, but he had a flu during the games against Wolves, Lakers and Nets. After he fully recovered, he had more than 10 boards in three consecutive games. - Yao said that he was happier with Rudy's "merit scheme" to encourage players to play better statistically. During his rookie years, Rudy has recorded players' "merits" on a blackboard. Whenever a centre grabs a board in 4 minutes, a forward in 6 minutes, a guard in 8 minutes, the player will get a small red flag as a merit on the blackboard. Yao has got more than 50 red flags that year. Yao felt that it was more interesting and encouraging to have such merit scheme. He even said that he would have performed better if JVG has used such scheme.
Well, then, they should tell their son to dunk more, take more shots, show some emotion...among other things. If they do tell him, then he aint listening. Have some pride...if somone blocks your shot get mad. Go down the court and dunk on them. Come on - seems like you want us to feel sorry for him. Geez, he's a grown man. The NBA is a grown mans league. If he were to show the kind of emotion he showed while playing in the olympics, we would probably have a couple of more wins now. This is crazy, I'm out
I have two words for you: Amare Stoudemire. In the NBA, greatness can be achieved when your competing with somebody who is better or as good as you are. Examples, Wilt and Bill, Kareem and MOses, Bird and Magic, Bird-Magic and Jordan, Worthy and McHale, Jordan and Wilkins, Hakeem-David-Ewing-Shaq, and now KG and TD and Lebron and Melo. My point here is we all expect something huge from yao. Just like the suns fans expect something huge from amare. If yao wants to be a great player, he must try to compete with amare. Amare is having a break out season right now. This could be attributed to nash but its more of amare's determination to become not just one of the best but the best player in the game. Right now, amare is head and shoulders above yao. Yes, its true. No gm's right now will pick yao over amare. He is just a stud. I remember people comparing him to shawn kemp. But i believe that at 22 years old, he is twice as better as kemp was in his 22nd bday. Every game, amare is improving. With nash and a high octance offense, who knows, at the end of the season he may just be the league MVP. Im not kidding. MVP's are based on the regular season performance and with the way amare is tearing the league apart, he is on track to become an mvp on just his 3rd season. And yao, well, he is still a top five center and maybe another all nba third team member but as long as he will not compete with amare, he will just be another regular guy, ala rik smits. Sad. Very sad developments indeed.
In my eyes, yaoming can absolutely be called a man.He is expressing his comprehension of "Be a man" in a unique way.He is a typical Chinese man.Everything is in control in his mind.No limits for him!
Life is a long journey.Somebody is too certain that amare is head and shoulders above yao..But being head and sholders above yao now or at a time can't represent the same thing in future or forever.Who knows ?Grant Hill is a example.
If Yao was unhappy I doubt we would know it anyway He is such a nice guy and would not complain But I don't think he unhappy. . . not yet anyway Rocket River
First, Yao Ming has shown us all the cultural difference in his NBA life. That means all of us who are trying to evaluate Yao from our own paradigm should listen to the Chinese fan perspectives and try to gain understanding. Second, losing Yao is a possibility and would be a disaster to this franchise. Yao and his team will surely evaluate his next deal very carefully, they have already demonstrated that they make decisions after careful deliberation and with priorities that may differ from those taken most players. Third, take the scenario that Yao doesn't resign. He plays out his option. There will be reasons for that decision. A lot of us will heap blame, blame, blame on Yao. But that will be tragic and too late to be constructive at all to the Houston Rockets. All the factors leading up to his decision, both positive and negative are taking shape real time, and we would be naive to think that Yao is a lock to resign here. I would not dismiss this thread or the opinions expressing concern for Yao as stupid babying of Yao. As a fan I am listening for a little more understanding of Yao as a Chinese athlete, and trying to convince myself that Les Alexander is brilliant and knows just what buttons to push to ensure that he is successful in re-signing Yao Ming. I will be as crushed as a Rocket fan if Yao gets away. Yao + Tmac = JOY TMac + scrubs= MISERY
He is not happy at all just by look at his face i can tell. last night i watch the game and i turned off my TV in the mid of play. because i do not like see a unhappy Yao play. i feel pain for him. i think his parents and his agent can feel that as same as me.
I tell you why Yao is unhappy. He is not getting the calls. He is getting beat-up and when he trys in-kind on the other end he gets called for touch fouls. Don't know how to fix it other then Yao needs to really get "rough" and "demand" the spacing and get the refs to agree. He got a great, great back-up this season so don't be saying "they traded my back-up" as some cause for Yao's unhappiness. Kato is zero next to our current backup. As for guards letting their man into the paint. The cat and Steve was just as quilty and Yao just need to learn to defend better. It's easy to forget how bad as defenders our old backcourt was.
I'm a major Yao fan but.... The mechanics of Yao re-signing could be discussed 24-7 during the Rockets' next 70 regular season games. Let's cut out all of the crap and get to the bottomline. If he can't win with McGrady, learn from Mutombo, and elevate his postup game to what Van Gundy expects from an NBA Center, then he isn't even on par with Rik Smits. Maybe we should read Yao's body language when Sura returns, the entire team learns the system and Nachbar and Howard aren't among the league leaders on the bad side of +/- when on the court. But when that time arrives, I suggest we use a more scientific method to determine if Yao's "happy".....let's read tea leaves. On second thought, I'm Croation same as Rudy T and I can tell with my NBALP subscription that he's really unhappy in LA where the fans expect another championship this year. I mean...how can anybody be happy when they're expected to produce and win...
I have a suggestion for all of you who honestly think Yao would be better playing for another team and I mean this with all due respect: GO POST SOMEWHERE ELSE! No one wants to listen to it. No one wants to hear it. I'm sure there are Yao Ming fan club bulletin boards where you guys can speculate about where Yao might fit best, who might be the best coach for him, who might be the best point guard or power forward to play with him. But, speaking for Rockets fans, I don't care who might play best with him or who might be the best coach for him or what city has the best Asian culture. What I and other Rockets fans care about is the Rockets. If you want to talk about the Rockets, you are more than welcome. If you just want to talk about why Yao is miserable and how he's going to leave to go play somewhere else, talk about it on another BBS.
http://cn.sports.yahoo.com/041122/291/25xsl.html Now this articles details Yao's problems, and touched some aspects about why he is unhappy right now. He is trying, but does not have the feel of playing for the CNT while playing for the current Rockets team.
JVG is trying to save his job. If players can not play well, he is going to lose his job, he will be very upset.
U know what, that's exactly what my buddies and I talked about the other day. We all thought Yao was really not happy. You can totally tell from his facial expressions on the court.
