Is there a certain amount of time he has to wait, or can the place him on the active roster when ever they want? Reason being, I remember T-Mac saying how good he looked in practice
What I heard from the TV is that he should be ready within 2 weeks. Hopefully he can provide the outside shot that we need.
He was placed on the injured list at the beginning of the season and once your placed on, you must wait five games. Since it has been more than five games, he can be taken off the injured list at any time. According to reports, however, he won't be ready to the beginning of December or in about two weeks. They will probably bring him on when he is ready to play or very close to it.
The Chron said today he would need to go through at least a few more workouts. Given that they won't do much working out on the road trip, my bet would be first week of December.
When Sura comes back don't expect the team to be much better. He still needs time to get into basketball shape, gel w/ teammates, and most importantly get some confidence from coming off an injury, especially one that required surgery. So don't expect too much from Sura.
going by what sura has said in interviews the guy isn't lacking confidence. he also sounded like the type of guy who's given medical advice but takes shortcuts for a faster recovery.
i dont think he will give us great 3 pt shooting based on his career percentages. however, he will give us a good defense, better rebounding, and hopefully drive to the basket and dish. i think he will also give us another guy who can take care of the ball. BEST OF ALL...he allows us to make ward a bench warmer.
I actually think Sura will either have a big impact or none at all. Sura seems to be so much better than our current PG options. With Sura, you add the athleticism the team is lacking.
We've only seen about 10 quotes from the guy, so I'm not sure how you could possibly draw any conclusion whatsoever. Believe me, Keith Jones is extremely strict about when players are allowed to participate in drills, practice and games. Sura only goes when he is cleared. Period.
Well, the way the Rockets point guards are shooting as of late, the position is losing them games. There was the beginning of the season when Ward was nailing his 3's; and the Rockets were competing and winning. The Rockets are still competing, but they've been losing by miniscule points as of late. When Ward and Lue shoot in the 20's percentile, that will cost the Rockets any game. It seems to me that Ward can't penetrate into the lane and Lue can't hit a shot. And now to top it all off, Ward is missing on all of the open 3 pointers he gets. If Sura can shoot 3's in the 37 to 39%'age, then the Rockets are going to win their share of games because teams won't be able to rotate off of Sura. But, from what I remember of Sura's play; he will have a positive effect on this team. Sura can make plays, (he might only get 4 to 5 assists a game, but he can move the ball, while still maintining respect on the shooting. I just expected more from Lue, and a bit more leadership and confidence from Ward.
All I know is that Sura use to piss me off when he played for the Warriors. He might be the spark that we need to get us over the funk that we've been in....
I'm not expecting too much from Sura even at 100%... Damn you, Brent Barry. Damn you to HELL. You should be a starter for the Rockets, not a backup for the spurs.
Sura's real Value is on Defense. i would'nt expect to see great numbers in terms of offense, but he will be Active on the Defensive end.
Well, if anything, when he comes back we won't have the excuse that we are not at full strength. Anyways, on a side note, when you guys watch damon jones, antonio daniels, and brent barry doing good on their teams do you get this bitter feeling about it? I'm always sitting there watching them play and saying dangit! they should be on our team!
i have alot of confidence in sura coming in and atleast upgrading the postion. i mean c'mon it won't require all that much. he can play defense and he can penetrate and create off the dribble both of which we desperately need.
Barry probably would be playing more than his 25 minutes per game if he was more effective on the floor. For a long time, he was below 30 percent on his threes. He's now up at 37 percent, which is better-than-average, but not nearly what it should be playing with Duncan. He has also been a defensive liability for them making it hard for them to play him at the close of games. I like Barry a lot, but I was not convinced that you give a 33-year-old 4 years at a number that pays him like $9 million when he's 37, paricularly given his skill set.
