No, that is YOUR argument. Your argument is that he is "ruining" this team, right? But the thing that he "ruined" is what he built. It's two sides of exactly the same coin ...yet you only acknowledge one side of said coin. But let's rank teams by several metrics. As of today, the Rockets sit in 4th place, barely. Looking at last season and this season so far, the Rockets have as .62 winning % My argument is ...the dude is winning games. Ya'll need to calm down. Wait until the playoffs and see what happens before you declare the dude a failure after one playoff run that had Jalen Green as your #1 scoring option. Well, you can call him a failure if you want. If the Rockets catch fire in the playoffs, they'll be plenty of extra room to jump back on the bandwagon. Personally, I stay on the bandwagon and enjoy the ride.
You got me, I do hate really incompetent coaching. In 2026 any coach, like Ime, who doesn't believe in analytics and instead just does random **** based on gut instinct has no business coaching at a level higher than AAU. On top of that, it's obvious he has no clue how to coach any kind of coherent offense. I do absolutely hate all of that.
adelman would piss me off but at least he was a princeton mastermind. him and Mike probably the only real coaches this franchise has had since Rudy
I think Ime is a good coach, but the way him and Stone built this roster is not going to get us far in the playoffs maybe get out the 1st round if we can get the 3rd seed... Our offense is not good at all. Ime depended heavy on the double-big lineup to get as many offensive rebounds from all the bricks our players were throwing up. Now that Adams is out for the season, our offense has taken a dip because we're not getting those extra possessions like we relied on last season and 1st half of this season.
Update on what? This thread is still hyperbolic and kind of dumb. He's clearly not the worst coach in the NBA, but definitely not one of the best, in my opinion. When you feel mad about something, why do you feel the need to make a whole-ass thread about it? There are other threads discussing Ime and his flaws that you can jump into.
I get that the HC and several of the assistants have playing expierience, while that is beneficial in coaching and recruiting, it can't be the only skills. Coaching squad needs some X's/O's nerd assistants in the braintrust. There's a limit of what analytical departement can provide. Ultimately is the coaching staff on how to apply the data. All-star break is supposed to have some body rest. But they could still hold practices, even it is film only. Doesn't have to be 'call outs' of specific players mistakes, can be individual session between a player and an assitant. I'm not saying our guys are dumb, but Bball IQ needs to be nourished and pushed. If a coach draws something on the clip board, do they know where they're supposed to be. We know that was a weakness during early Silas years. How is the team on play call vocabulary. Even after Ime's first year, when FVV came in, Fres let it slipped he was surprised some of the young guys didn't know the basic NBA terms, and he had to explain it. Depending on the educational paths, even "light" quizzes, to see how much info players actually retain. Just handing a player a large binder at the end of season, and say go 'self develop' is not the answer. It's a billion dollar NBA team, treat the playing side like you would on the business side, formalize the education program, hold regular practices.
Where would you rank FVV and Adams as players on the Rockets roster? I would say FVV 4-5th and Adams 5-6th. That's a lot to overcome.
It’s not Udoka’s fault that Sengun chokes EVERY SINGLE TIME by missing free throws in the last minute that would win us games. EVERY SINGLE TIME!!! I challenge anyone on this site to find a single time Sengun made both his free throws in the last 20 seconds of a close game. He’s a prime time choker!
I guess your memory isn’t as good as mine. He was called McFail for a reason. He was a disaster of a head coach and squandered two of the best chances we had at winning a title post Hakeem. That first Harden/Dwight season was one I wish we had back, and would have a coach that knew how to meek the ball out of Damien Lillards hands with less than 5 seconds left in a playoff elimination game.
Ranking based on importance, I would say thats a fair ranking...This team just feels like the T-Mac and Yao years under Jeff Van Gundy. That team had great defensive players, but in the playoffs we didn't have enough offense to close out our opponents. The team thrived under Rick Adelman, but injuries halted the potential/success of his regime. I think that's something to be reevaluated in the offseason because history is a great teacher. Like most posters have been saying, Ime/Stone needs to bring in some offensive minded assistant coaches to fix our offensive woes. Otherwise, we'll continue to be like those JVG teams: first round exits
I think Morey kept McHale aka Herman Munster top long as the coach...he was the perfect coach during the transition years from post T-Mac/Yao era. Wish we could've kept Adelman around for the Harden/Dwight years!
