Ironically it might be an upside down world where Euros and white boys are neglected whereas outside browns and colored people are hunted..... What a friggin time we are living in. Spoiler
Like many posters here, I've been hoping to have a good offensive assistant. But I am starting to doubt if that would help even if it actually happened. Ultimately, it's the head coach who decides what players he will play at what parts of the game. If he puts in a bunch of non shooters at crucial time, it doesn't matter what kind of offensive system you have. It's not going to work. Some of the non shooting lineups I've seen in 4th quarter just made me cringe.
Non of our young players has had any sort of leap past their second season. Something is not right with our player development. Look at Amen in his third season. Has he had any leap? We were all very excited about him last year. How much has he improved since then? I don't even need to mention about Jalen and Jabari. Why do you keep singling out Sengun?
To be fair, Tari became a good 3 point shooter. Unfortunately, he had to seek outside coaching for it to happen.
Is this the Amen thread? Is this the Jabari thread? No Is Amen in his 5th season? No Are they our “franchise player” and the one headed to the ASG getting dubbed “baby Jokic?” No somebody can talk about Amen or Jabari all day long, but the second you mention Sengun, nothing but pearl clutching and a million excuses supposed franchise player and a 2x All-Star, but has role player expectations
Excuses, excuses! if he was a good player, he would succeed (which means he would be mvp, all star level is a total failure) regardless of his role and how he is used. Sengun improved his handle significantly imo. Also his disruptive defense. Not a leap maybe but quite important for a young center. He had attempts to improve his shooting and he actually came back from summer break with improved form two years in a row but did not hold up through the season. He has a major jump in assists this year. Everyone can have a different definition of leap but he didn’t regress or stayed same as some posters frequently picture him after every single mediocre performance.
Understand but the game has changed. Centers of the 90's are extinct. Don't get me wrong, I love Hakeem and I think he is probably the only center that could play in today's game from that era. He had a face up game, he could step out to 15 - 20 ft CONSISTENTLY. But not Sengun and that's the difference. Today's game is more wide open. Because Sengun is effective near the basket, he is clogging the lane. To me, he is negating Amen's effectiveness and KD too. Most of KD's mid-range shots are contested. Embiid and Jokic both can step out to the 3pt line, not Sengun. And if you look at my post, Ive always said that for the Rockets to go further and to be a LEGIT TOP TEAM, Sengun needs a 3pt shot.
I think Reeko just wants that D from Alpi deep down inside. As long as Alpi gives him that D every night, he would be happy and not hate on him so much. Totally agree that Alpi should bring the D to satisfy unk.
Then how about Amen learns to shoot the 3? Isn't he a guardt? That would solve the problem. Everyone wants to talk about Sengun but Amen has been just as bad, he just gets fed dunks by Sengun to still basically have the same FG% as him. When he tries to create for himself he is much worse, outside of the fast point breaks. Regarding KD, come on man, that dude can hit middies all day long, he did it with plenty of people packing the paint throughout his entire career. That being said, yes, he still needs to develop a 3 and needs to make more FTs. Otherwise he will be limited, but what he is right now is an all-star caliber player that's not being properly used in offense.
Did he get an outside coach? Smart move them. He also has career low 2pt % ironically, last time I checked.
I get that but Sengun has always been deemed more of an offensive player. To me, he's had 4yrs to improve his game, correct? Amen is a defensive player learning to play offense
Go see the Amen off the bench thread. How much energy have you spent there? And the Jabari thread... I don't know. I don't follow your posts.
And he did improve his game.If he hadn't you and the other haters would be posting in this thread non-stop. N Not getting a 3 pt shot for a center is far from not improved his game. yet you want to keep them equal, while a guard who is expected to come to the nba with some sort of a 3pt shot to the nba gets a pass. So, to make a case against Sengun, you needed to bring in arguably the best offensive player ever, and another mvp center. And your main concern is Sengun doesn't have a 3. Nice! Thank you for making that clear. By the way you were saying you can never win a championship with Jokic, his style doesn't fit modern basketball etc. Not only you were wrong that time, you can't learn from your mistakes either.
Isn't it Cs' job to space the floor for perimeter players? Don't they take high volume 3s and make 'em well above league average? Sarcasm aside - you can't reason with hate or dislike. It's solely Alpi's job to hit 3s, cuz some posters hate him and some dislike him. I'll give you an excuse. Amen can defend. Sengun is a liability. Amen also shows great offensive potential compared to Alpi, which we are yet to see.
Amen and Ausar were Swiss army knives at OTE, Amen was a wee bit more athletic and Ausar was actually the more defensive one. Amen was deemed a defensive player due to his Offense being still in baby shoes.......raw yet his athleticism has allowed him to play NBA level Defense from Day 1.
