It's too simplistic to look at turnovers. Reed just doesn't do a good job of getting the team into their sets so they get a quality shot. Too often Reed crosses half-court and as soon as he gets ball pressure, he pulls up his dribble and dumps it off to KD. Now KD is forced into an ISO action, which too often results in a turnover. They need FVV back. I love Reed but he's a work in progress.
Amen does this too. Apply some pressure and they will pick up their dribble to pass out of it. And don’t want the ball back either
Lineups last night were horrific. There's definitely a repeat pattern of him getting out-adjusted by the more experienced coaches around the league. I've seen Kerr, Lue, Spoelstra, and others make half-time adjustments that we end up having no answer for.
I dunno about overall worst...but one of the worst at making adjustments and pretty bad offense. Seems better if he was an assistant coach
the dumbass gets destroyed by lue & van gundy. remember when lue came in with the tmac trade and never played under van gundy ahahaha. and they both outcoach his ass as Leonard closes his ass out. most pathetic thing I’ve ever seen suppose it’s poetic justice 2 mcFlys with the same gun.
We have had 3 instances of playing the same team 2 games in a row. Utah, Portland and LAC. We are 2-4 and have lost the second game all 3 times. This is worrisome in a playoff series when adjustments are key. We weren't exactly playing great teams either. I haven't been super down on Ime but it is trending in the wrong direction.
I think we've all been bamboozled and we caught a bald fraud for a coach. Ime taking the Celtics to the Finals wasn't a reflection of his coaching acumen - rather, that C's team making the Finals was because of how consistently good Tatum and Brown have been (multiple ECFs and also winning the Finals a few years later). I don't even think Joe Mazzula is that good of a coach either. But he's still better than Ime... As long as Tilman is willing to see $10m a year as a sunk cost for the next few years, don't see why it would be difficult to replace this fraud of a coach.
I always find it entertaining that every coach the Rockets have ever had is always the worst coach. It's 100%.
Sometimes. Either that or Amen will try to split defenders and get into the lane ...which is good. BUT... his feet are faster than his brain so he too often ends up tossing up some circus shot over his left shoulder or something. Sometimes this works cause he just ends up at the cup and dunks it. Other times you are left with WTF.
This is one of the stupidest posts I’ve ever seen. Ime’s got some blind spots but he’s not the problem. He’s done well with what he’s got overall. Rockets have been hovering btw 3 and 4 seeds all season long in spite of a flawed roster and no pg and a fair amount of injuries to key role players. Every good team has had baffling losses and bad stretches this season. Look at the thunder… after a historic 25-1 start they have been 16-12 since…
meh... I never found myself criticizing D'antoni or Adelman or Rudy T. But you gotta be honest with yourself.. if you really think Ime is making good basketball decisions...especially this season.. I don't know what to say
THAT IS WHAT IME WANTS TO RUN....and it sucks against pressure defenses. Now Reed should be told to simply ATTACK and look for his shot or a teamate. And everyone screens of the ball... TOO MUCH DURANT equals too many losses. DD
This bald fraud is 100% the problem. Starting bums like okogie over reed. Deliberately sabotaging Reeds efficiency and plus minuses, not knowing how to use timeouts.
Needing a 3-pointer and knowing that Reed can shoot the ball in a split second from long distance and still benching him is coaching malpractice. Stone not even attempting to get Alvarado is another huge blunder. Ime and Stone deserve each other in NBA hell.
Maybe not you but litterally every coach the Rockets have ever had, there is always a loud contigency that says they are a terrible coach. It's 100%. At the end of the day, what was their record? So far, so good. At least it's an upward trajectory. Also, it's sports. If you have a Hakeem on your team, you look great. If Jalen Green is your #1 option, you don't look that great. In the NBA, the top contenders are usually the team with a top 5 player on the roster, had good injury luck, said player is playing at peak level, and it helps to have a good surrounding staff (but no always, see Lebron's Cavs).
Not the worst coach, but he's no where near the coach with the ability to adjust or scheme anything on the offense. He's the type of coach that'll get you through the regular season but will not go far in playoffs. It's okay though if that's all you want from your team with no aspirations of winning a championship.
I mean yea the vocal majority have been pretty hyperbole in terms of voicing their displeasure for whoever is the current coach. Last year, hard to argue with you - Ime did well with what he had and we overachieved. This season? Ime's got a top 10 HOF talent in KD, who is still a top 10 offensive talent (not top 10 overall on both sides of the ball), he's got a legit floor-spacer in Reed, a floor-spacing big in Jabari, two switchable versatile defensive menaces in Amen and Tari, and a playmaking big (a huge luxury in today's NBA) in Alpi... and we have the most inept crunch time offense. We also never seem to be able to get the necessary stops when we need to. Where the hell is the game plan, the adjustments? You have a top-tier finisher in KD and you still can't even utilize him properly? He failed to make any adjustments in last season's playoffs against GSW despite Jimmy Butler being injured for half of the series. And like another poster said earlier, his record in back to backs this season, even against tanking teams, is pretty goddam terrible. If this isn't an indictment on his coaching ability... I don't know what is. Let's not get complacent here.. there are way too many underlying signs that are showing Ime isn't what we thought he would be.
