Stone should've been gone when Silas was gone. Even if Ime does nothing again in the playoffs this season he will still be back next season, but will be on a short leash...probably get fire mid season if the Rockets does not perform next year.
"Sure, but you really have to focus on defense when you have the ball down 3 with 2 seconds left" - Ime Udoka, probably
I was so excited to get Ime, especially coming off of Silas. History is going to show the Ime is a culture coach and not an x/o guy. And that only works on a certain kind of player.
Did he get asked any questions about the last play in the presser? I watched the one that’s on YouTube but didn’t hear anything. If not, shame on the media.
Reed hit a three with 0.6 seconds on an inbounds play earlier in the game. How do you not put him in? KD/Reed/Jabari/Tari with Alpi inbounding seems pretty easy to figure out lineup wise.
That was the most damning; people too afraid to ask him the most obvious thing Houston sports media is an absolute disgrace for that copout
Considering Stone allows his coach to do this crap over and over and over he needs to go too. I'd prefer a GM who holds a coach accountable for being a stubborn old goat too set in his ways to adjust smartly.
Yeah, wtf....you make it way easier to defend the final play when 3 of the 5 guys on the floor aren't even viable 3 pt threats. On top of that, there wasn't even a well drawn out play out of the timeout. Barely got the ball in bounds and then a desperation shot. I feel like FVV is Ime's crutch that he overly relied on, and he's been absolutely lost on the offensive side of the ball without him.
If no one asked Ime about that, then that's just as firable an offense as what Ime did on the last possession. You're not even being confrontational or a jerk with a question like that. It's such a basic move he should've made. I guess all we can do is theorize what Ime's motivation was. Obviously it's not because of Reed's defense. Ime isn't THAT stupid to not realize it was an offensive possession. And what's bizarre is that the Rockets have been in this situation before this season. That infamous New Orleans game where they blew the 25-point lead ended with them down 3 on the final possession in OT and Reed was not only in the game, but he got two good looks at tying it up(and unfortunately missed both).
I agree. The Rockets won’t fire him until it’s too late, they wait too long to make decisions because the owner is AWOL. I’m genuinely starting to think this team is a money laundering operation for the mafia because of how blatantly they sabotage themselves. All the wasted picks, literally losing games on purpose to prove a point, sabotaging our own assets , killing our young players’ confidence etc etc. I can go on and on about this bs. It’s so ****ing frustrating because they all refuse to hire a proven nba exec/basketball mind simply because he expose all the bs and heads will roll. It’s like this team is doing whatever they can to go back to a rebuild so they can do their money laundering without expectations to compete.
I mean, our owner literally owns gambling casinos. He wins off the court even if he loses on the court. Does no one else see the conflict of interest here? So much focus on the players but what about owners? Gambling is ruining sports. ....and by the way, I'm not saying Fertitta is definitely being shady, I'm saying the fact there is such an obvious conflict of interest here opens the door for us to ask crappy questions like "did our team actually want to lose"? It destroys the very integrity of sports if you are undermining the athletes this way.
Ime is a narcissist a***** who won’t admit when he needs help on the offensive end. We saw this all last year. We all called for an offensive assistant over the offseason to help him and nothing…. The “assistant coaches” he has now are his “friends” who won’t hold him accountable or tell him, “maybe Reed should in the game since he just made a three with hardly no time on the clock left instead of a bunch of non-shooters.” Too many yes men, including Stone, who allows Ime to run this organization like Bill O’Brien and will only get rid of him when the it’s too late and the damage has already been done.
